Feature Suggestion - A Newspaper
Keeping up with major developments is difficult at the best of times, with an army of civil servants and beaurocrats
For those of us who don't have these resources at our disposal a newspaper covering stories submitted by region would be useful
It could simply be a board covering each of the regions, with links to the regional news-stories. There could be an editor chosen from each region to maintain each of the regional papers, thus eliminating the workload for the moderators
If a limit, of say ten items per paper per day, were imposed the server/storage load needn't be too high and, since newspapers are disposable, no archive need be kept
Well, no major changes are going to be made to NS1.
Regions who want a newspaper or something to that effect will need to make a website for it.
I've thought of making an IC "International News" paper that I would post in II and NS. It would have all major events, sides people are taking, advertisements etc. I should do that now..
Well ... in NS1 it would only need to be a single board on the forum, perhaps, where each nation/region could post a link to a website
Although some will be disadvantaged by this if they cannot afford to pay for webhosting, it would be better than nothing

That's what the Gameplay forum is for

Kinda ... although I had something simpler in mind ... at first sight the site looks more like a BBS/chatsite than a newspaper and I envisage some difficulty finding my way around
And it's not clear to me how I would go about getting news from my *own* region posted there ... but I'll have a snoop around and see what i can see ...
:) Thanx for the link

I know, I was startled myself at first.
I think that you just report it on a thread, then certain threads get compiled into a newspaper. That's just my guess though.
Welcome.

Yeah ... my bad ... I'm new to this ... sorry
I guess I was just thinking about something a little less chaotic ... with the news national/regional entries organised in one place rather than leaving the reader top sift through the whole forum ... but it's at least given me a bit of an insight into how the forums are organised
I'd better go announce my region's creation there
:D
It's been attempted a few times... my region had a newspaper until the site it was on went bust. :|
All in all, not much of the stuff that happens would be of interest to anyone because they wouldn't have any idea of what it was about. The Pacific regions have always been a magnet for hardcore politics, so a report on current events there would be of much interest to me. :)
That's why I thought of regional papers ... Then the readers would only need to pay attention to the goings on in areas of especial interest to them

Network Radio mainly reports on the larger affairs. Invader/Defender struggles, the Pacific, large region elections that kind of thing.
there is an area called hotscoops or soething where you basicaly give tips to stories, ie such abd such is invading here, franco looks like hes on holiday, whatev er.
They also can broadcast in your region, simultaneously advertising your region on the board and giving themseves a bit of publicity. quid pro quo dont you know?
Its a good deal, and it can giv e a boost to new regions, ive used it once or twice myself (other nations, not this one)
Ackbar can tell you more, hes areportwer there as far aS i know.
ps: sorry about any spelling/lack of punctuation.
