PhpBB? Coming close to 110000 members?

Last I checked PhpBB wasn't designed for such large member numbers. This is backed up by me not being able to access the forums 90% if the time.

There are several, more efficient ways of managing member numbers within this Magnitude (UBB and vBulletin distinctly come to mind)

I know PhpBB is free, and open-source, but arn't there times when a paid-for software name is required?

I doubt more than a quarter of that number ever post anything, let alone regularly. And whatever the phpBB limitations are, expanding server resources seems a far more straightforward way of dealing with the problem. Just my opinion though.

Yup, it isn't designed for this userload, but we're kinda stuck with this for a bit. We're hoping that improving the backend significantly will fix the problems.

You know, why not use Invision Power Board. Switching the systems over to IPB would not be hard, just time comsumming (So set a bit of time a side each day)....

Is it possible you could enable to sig system?

At the moment, our current setup is the best for us. We are working on improving it.
