Need a Topics search in this forum

Many times I have looked for precedents on topics and issues, and have found one with some information and then maybe later another with a better definition.

It would help I think if users could search topics, in order to avoid confusion.

Also copyright ideas should be stickied.

Search No More

As part of our ongoing quest to keep the forums in some kind of reasonable shape, the keyword search facility has been disabled. Hopefully this is temporary.

You can still search for forum posts by author name.

As for copyrighted ideas. Are you saying that your idea is original and that you have now copyrighted it?

And there is a sticky list (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=54421) to keep the forum from getting too cluttered up with stickies.

There used to be one for quite a while, but then the forums did a slow-motion implosion, and it had to go. Now you can only keyword search your own posts. Enabling that function once again for ten thousand or more forum users would kill the place. The server simply does not have the resources.

Nooooooooo, I'm suggesting that nations with viable ideas for armaments, social policies, etc. be allowed recognition for their efforts. Also to avoid confusion and repetition of other ideas. Thats all. :) If it will do harm to the site, I understand why the search is not used. I just didn't know.

Okay, but what If I want to ask a question and don't know if it's been asked a quin-trillion times already? If it has, I don't want bug everyone by asking it again. Also, if it has been asked before, how do I know who the author was so I can search for their posts?

Eric.

If you've checked the FAQs and the top couple pages of the forum, I don't think anyone is going to be to angry at you for asking a question.

Further correction: You can ego-search (user-name search) anyones posts, not just your own.
