Why is it so temperamental?

This has gone far enough. I am sick of the forums magically going on and off for some reason all day. One moment they're available. The next, it's an error and they're not.
WHY?
I need answers. This annoys me to no extent.
Please, someone, anyone, tell me why the forums are so gosh-darn finicky.

Simple: the forum and server can't always cope with the volume of traffic, so they periodically lock up.
It's nowhere near as bad as it used to be, and apparently there is a more permanent fix being created.

Or rather they are still "in negotiations" maybe when I'm on my little old cane, in the year 2100 we'll see the servers working properly.

Oh great. Another nation that has been here under 2 weeks and thinks they have the right to demand answers to a game they are playing for free. I guess you are able to demand an answer since you've had to put up with it for so long and have had to put up with the faulty forums for about a week! *Gasp!*

When I joined, you were lucky if you could get the forums for more then 30 minutes without them dying. They have improved a LOT. We also have our people constantly trying to make them better for us. Maybe a little patience would be nice.

We are slowly getting there, and if you're with us long enough you may get to see the day when the forums become stable. But until then, show a bit more patience, and generosity to the people who are giving you something free to play on, instead of demanding answers from them like they work for you.

Now now Bas... let's be nice to the n00bs... the server is at the worst it's been for about a week.

I can see asking for help politely, but not like how it was done. I guess it struck a cord.

*Ahem*

Well excuuuse me. I'm sorry that I "struck a chord" THrow me a friggin bone here! I guess I got a bit pissed that I would get on and than go on to the next page of posts and...denied. Than try to go back and... denied. I mean, why must it happen to me while others post?!?
-Frantically rips hair out--
Oh, and I'm sure that all your "olden day" tales also involved you walking five miles a day through the snow with rocks on your back and only dirt to eat to get to your computer to post, of course going up-hill both ways. I'm sure it's free, but it's a lot more erratic than many other free forums I'm in that receive more traffic daily(although it may be somewhat due to the number of hacks, but really.)

Sorry, but I'm not in the best mood right now.(As I'm sure you can tell) I just wanted to see if it was something on my computer screwing it all up(You know, something along the lines of "What posting problems? WE're all happy here.")
Your sanctimonious whining about "back in the day" didn't really help my mood much.
I am going to stop typing now, as anything I type will merely get you angrier at me. Thank you everyone for pointing out it was due to traffic.

No...it was 10 miles through the snow, barefoot of course.

I'm not angry, I simply exploded. Too many people ask that question. I came off wrongly. Sorry for that. It takes more then that to get under my skin, but not much to chaff it (If that makes any sense to you). Once again, sorry.

This was a silly disagreement between ourselves. Apology accepted. But do accept my apology about posting angry posts without thinking. It shouldn't be what one does under the influence of anger. I'm sorry.

Sure thing mate. Now, my unangered reason as per why the server sucks-

The server is really a nice model, but it has to support a whole bunch of users and nations to go with it. We try to make it better, but it only works so much. Unfortunately, we can't afford another server.

So we are stuck trying to make this one better anyway we can.

Have you ever tried creating a new forum and running some of the traffic through it (only in the case of a massive traffic jam) and than re-connecting the information posted by the people? I mean, it might take a while to get that to work(if it ever could) but theoretically it could work. :?:

You could try proposing the idea to an admin by starting a topic about it...

Yeah, the forums suck, and when I first joined, they were actuall worse. The server just isn't capable of keeping up with it. Unfortunately, there is really nothing that we can do right now. Not one part of this game (forums included) was designed with this userload in mind.

We are working on this, and we ask your patience.

Sorry.

Yeah, like trying to pack enough people for an Amtrak commuter train onto a San Francisco Cablecar.
