May I start another nation as long as I do not make my second nation a UN member? ~ Michael.

And out of sheer curiosity, how much time do you two spend a day on this contraption?

Apparently, with practice, it takes 30-60 minutes to do the issues for that many puppets, keeping them into the Dossiers of a handful of them. This problem is alleviated by putting all the puppets into Holiday Mode, so no issues have to be done. Scattering them through a few significant regions, one would only have to log in very infrequently to keep them from dying, and if a situation should arise somewhere, one has a representative there.
As for the length of time players spend playing, it varies from a couple of weeks' worth of amusement (which was the creator's original idea), to a primary leisure activity. In my case, in effect an unpaid part-time job.
And to confirm, you can have any number of nations, provided only one is in the UN at any one time.

I rarely do the issues, and I hve very few of my puppets on vacation mode (only the ones in Anatolia). Of course, that does mean that I do tend to lose a few dozen every now and again. . .

So if you've a lot of nations, and you don't do the issues, what do you use them for? Are they all RP?

In fact, using puppets to back up your nation in an RP is highly frowned upon.

Not really back himself up, but use them much like I used one puppet of mine once, where I controlled two nations (Basenji and Litenburg). I had both completely opposite of each other, running around doing stuff.
Played 2 completely different races. It was pretty fun, til I got bored and killed Litenburg. I should probably go and revive it...

Many of them are bases for In-Game RP, so far a few have actually become that.
