Watch this topic for replies

I changed my email adress about a day ago, and changed it on my settings. When I clicked watch topic for reply, it sent it to my old one rather than the one I put in. I checked the settings and it had my new one saved in. How can I get it to send to my new one.?
23-12-2003, 02:57
Try it again, and it should work

This is a known issue. The forum is permenantly locked to your first email address (even if it doesn't exist). I'm not sure when this is going to be fixed, simply due to the instability of the forum as it is right now.

Huh, I could have sworn I'd disabled "Watch topic for replies". You're not meant to be able to do that. :)

The problem is that the forum never updates your e-mail address, even if you do so in the game. It will only work if you supply an e-mail address when you create a nation and never change it.

Are you disabling this now?

I use this feature all the time. Must've supplied the right address at creation :?

I won't disable this feature, no. (The main reason I intended to disable it initially was because I hadn't investigated how to set up the email server to work with the forum. But apparently I didn't need to.) There is, however, a performance issue with updating your forum e-mail when you do it in-game, so I can't fix this problem until I've solved the general forum stability issue.

Deleting all the old topics in the forums so it doesn't bog down the server anymore? Or prehaps updating to the newest Phpbb version.

[violet] already altereed the cut-off time for topics... that probably halved the number of posts. The forum is running on version 2.0.4 and the latest version of phpbb is 2.0.6... I'm not sure what [violet] has up her sleeve. Perhaps a different forum software... perhaps a different operating system on the server, or even a seperate server for the forum. Only Salusie and [violet] know :(

A different software for the forums would really screw up all of us old players that are used to how it is now. But if it betters the forums, then I'm all for it.

::blink blink:: How odd. I changed my passwords yesterday, and they work just fine.

Good thing, too, since my passwords are always random, and I've thrown away the old ones, and there's no way in hell I'd ever figure out what they used to be.

You would make a pretty good admin in my opinion, but I seriously doubt that they'd make any player one. (Though I'll stake a bet that you are offered a mod position pretty soon if you'd like) :P

You mean they work just fine for the game, right? If, say, you aren't logged in on the game, then come to the forums, and try to post, it'll give you to the page http://www.nationstates.net/forum/login.php, and if I use my current password, it doesn't work. I must've tried ten thousand different times, and it just wouldn't work. But this explains it perfectly.

And Myrth, an admin? *dies of horror* (just kidding, Myrthy ;))

Repprod didn't start out as an admin, I don't think she even started out as a mod...

Nope, Rep started out as a humble player, just like the rest of us. In fact, there was a post somewhere around here where Rep actually asked to be made a mod... I guess back then (i.e. pre-Mods) it didn't have the anathema it has now

There's a thread somewhere in the back of Tech back when mods were first created, where [violet] asks people to volunteer to be mods, and also requests player input on whether they would be good mods. IIRC, Melkor, Amerigo, Demoness, and Tahar Joblis were selected in that thread.
