Improvement idea?

One of those crazy ideas you get at two in the morning...

In the forums, why don't we give a little more information than "ex-nation" about nations that have ceased to exist? I was thinking of a "date created-date DEATed/erased" sort of thing.... is it even remotely possible/interesting?

Maybe, but that would involve recording the Date/time of Deletion, which i do not think is already being implemented, but good idea

It could be doable, and would require such a small amount of code to add I don't see why [violet] or another wiz couldn't add it...

Along this same line, I think it would be great when a nation is deleted or dies out, that the UN delegate or the founder of the region recieves a telegram telling themy the reason. Inactivity we all see coming, but the deletions, an explanation would be nice, if only so we, as delegates, can then try to make sure that all the other nations in our region are aware of the things that will get them deleted. Being able to educate others about what happens and why (and educate ourselves for that matter), could help prevent problems in the future.

Not a good idea. Delegates of huge regions like The Pacifics would be constantly bombarded with telegrams that they don't really care about, which could push important telegrams out of their inboxes.

Especially when the ex-nations in question were ones created in retaliation for an imagined slight. I can't say as I'd envy someone receiving 30000 telegrams a day about "The Democratic States of Themodsrgay" ceasing to exist.

Although this latest one seems to have finally given up...

How about if the telegram comes from a unique source, only used for that purpose, and then you have the option to not recieve messages from that source. That would allow those of us who want the information to get it, while those that don't can just put it on the ignore list.

Non-nations can't be put on the ignore list.
If you need to know why a nation was deleted, you can post on the Moderation forum.

At the same time as it is being set up to distibute this information, the code could be changed to allow non nations to be on the ignore list. That doesn't seem to be such a difficult thing to me. I am no computer programing expert, but with all that computers are capable of, surely this is not such an impossible task.

That would mean players would be able to ignore moderator telegrams and UN compliance ministry telegrams... not good.

It's their problem if they do so, if they come whining to the mods aferwards they'll be able to say "I tried to warn you..."

But back to the topic at hand...

Sounds interesting but I like an interesting idea, but I don't think deleted nations deserve any sort of an epitath.

I don't see this happening.
