Has Dismiss an effect?

I was wondering. I plan to not dismiss any issue because that's the point of the game, making decisions. And a couple of times, I disagreed with all options, but I made some choice anyway.

However, I have a friend, Mackalia, who has dismissed several issues in a few days. And I have a question:

Does dismissing an issue have an effect on your nation? (I think it should. Something about the people in your town feeling more and more ignored and act accordingly). Does it?

You're dismissed!

To the best of my knowledge, dismiss has no effect on your nation. It treats the issue as if it never had arisen.

i agree with refereeland. if you constantly dismiss issues i think there should be some consequence.

Dismiss is a necessity, as sometimes none of the options are what you want to do.

If you dismiss an issue it goes away and will come back again and many people dismiss issues, that is what real governments do...a lot.

true - but a constant series od dismissals has to have some result. like a couple of dismissals a week is acceptable but to dismiss all of them should have some consequence

I'm thinking that you get the description of being a burocracy-chocked and dunnowhat morass...

whether this has an actual effect on your nation other than the aesthetics, I don't know.

Well it has a result. Whatever you chose when you began your nation will take precedence if you don't choose an issue to override this.

I heard another nation once say that he thought dismissing slightly increased your political ranking, but also slightly decreased your civil right ranking. But, to be honest, he said he was guessing, and I have no idea whether he was correct.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was wondering about that. Thanks for bringing it up, Refereeland.

All depends on how you answered the questions when you set the nation up. If you dismiss all issues, you simply become more what you really were. Meaning, you allow the nation to progress purely based on the questions you initally answered. You don't cloud the water with conflicting directions from that point on.

If you never answer any questions (including the ones at the begining), you get something like this: "The [...] government appears to have no policy direction whatsoever."

Otherwise, there is absolutely no effect whatsoever to dismissing an issue. The only way you nation changes (aside from population) is by answering issues.

However, some could argue that by stagnating, you are really falling behind.
