Why is my number of posts incorrect?

12-12-2003, 04:34
My question is why is the number of posts it says on the side of the screen for me is incorrect. It says I have only 35 posts but I should have closer to 75 posts. Just wanting to know.

This should be in the Technical forum.

I don't know.

This has been an OOC post.

There are several factors which I know could cause this:

1. You multipost and delete the multis (multiposts sometimes count as one post)
2. You posted on deliberately deleted threads
3. You were deleted accidentally and then revived immediately.
4. A mod removed a few of your posts for some reason.
5. You feel like you have made more posts than you actually have.

But why would it actually say I had 75 posts yesterday, but don't have them today.

Sombody deleted either a thread that you were deeeply involved in, or several threads that you were involved in by way of actually removing them (and not just purging all old threads).

Okay, I understand now thanks.

Now that I look at the side of the screen it still says now that I only have 41 posts, explain that.

If you posted on an intentiaonally deleted thread then those posts are gone. THey won't come back until you make more, as you have been doing.

The threads may have slipped though the server and been lost forever. Then your posts would have dropped.
12-12-2003, 05:02
That answers my question on that.

I have another question now, why does it sometimes put two messages on the forum when I click the submit button once.

Sometimes the server will mess up and post something you said twice instead of once. It happens to me at times as well, I'm just quick enough to delete it before others notice.
12-12-2003, 05:04
How do you delete the extra post.
The Basenji
12-12-2003, 05:08
You see in your post how it has the 'X' on the upper right hand side of yourmost recent post? Click it before someone replies and you'll be able to delete your post/topic.

But you have to do it before someone replies.
12-12-2003, 05:11
Okay I see it, I did'nt know that also ment to delete it.

12-12-2003, 05:12
Not a problem. Anything else you need help with?
12-12-2003, 05:17
Not at the time, thanks again.
12-12-2003, 05:18
Actually I do have a question, how do you delete a thread and do you have to delete it to make it go away?

Stop posting in it, that's the easiest way. It's called letting a thread die.
The Basenji
12-12-2003, 05:27
If you start the thread, you can ask for a mod to lock it. If not, then yeah, don't post in it.
12-12-2003, 05:33
Okay how do you ask a mod to lock it for you, I'm new to all this.

Go into the Moderation forum and post your request.

wrong, well partially wrong. you pressed the button once, then your internet timed out, and gave an error "could not load'. you pressed submit a second time and it didn't timeout, but bothtimes it sent your post. i believe [violet] will fix this soon

Usually only mods can delete threads. If nobody posts in it then it will eventually disappear.

Well, if nobody (or only you) have posted in it, you can delete all the posts and it goes away.
