User editable text in 'spotlight on nation'
I don't know if anyone has suggested this before...
But how about a section of user editable text in the nation's description. There people could put in news about their nation, history, stats, etc. anything they feel worth mentioning about their countries.
The Confederacy of Patxoia is located on the nearly inhospitable island of Sakhalin and they are currently working on various projects to make life more bearable. It is home to two corporations: Talon Aviation and Tredegar Arms.

Why?Good Idea: For obvious reasons
Bad Idea: Its hard enough the mods to patrol the forums, imagine having to patrol 100,000 nations not only for flags, but now for text...
This is going to be a NationStates 2 feature. Not only will it be editable, but you will be able to type your entire nation's spotlight.

Of course there will be a word edit or block, much like posting on regional message boards: It will block profanity.
In NS2, such strict moderation will hopefully not be necessary.
People aren't going to pay $5 only to get their nation deleted for having offensive material attached to their nation.
