Does population just grow exponentially?

Just as the subject says.

Is there any possible way to halt, or at least reduce, population growth?

Perhaps an issue that would allow for wide-spread use of contraceptives and/or sex ed for the citizens so there's no population bomb? Or, rewarding people (tax breaks?) for getting vasectomies?

Nope, that would require a change in the game mechanics. So instead your population will just go up and up and up.

Its growth is linear in this game, and there's no way to affect/change that, and there likely will be no way implemented in future.

Althoug depending on the number of issues you get and how you answer them your rate of growth will change

Nah, the issues have nothing to do with it. It increases 5-7 million per day no matter what you do when. Really the only way to stop your population from growing is to let your nation die of inactivity.

So you're saying that the information that the forum and game administrators gave is wrong?

The number of issues a day, used to affect your population growth, but that was a bug, and has since been fixed.

I think that you should try to get support from an administrator or technician on that by proposing it to the UN. That would seem a huge problem for a smaller country to have 2 billion! :?

Proposals trying to make game changes will be deleted, as the UN is not the place for that.

NO! Do NOT propose this to the UN! If you read, the UN specificially does not take any proposals regarding game mechanics. The proposal will be deleted and you will be warned.

I do not forsee the rate of growth changing significantly.

Dr. Paul Ehrlich would not be pleased...

Anyway, any word whether the government will be able to influence population growth in NS2?

On a side note .. your population only grows at a rate of 1 million per day for the first litle while of your existance (anyone know the exact time?)

If you want to see something like this, maybe NS2 will implement it.

I know it's 12 mil or less. I've been on a 2 mil / day growth since I had 12 mil people. Probably at 10. But while we're at stats - does anyone know the complete rating scales for the three main ratings (civil rights, economy and political freedoms) ? I'm missing some of the CR and EC ratings and am unsure in which order the EC ones are placed.

I like the system we have now. Population is a fun reward for sticking around NS for a long time, and good bragging rights, without totally alienating newbies.

And Yetar, take a look at Scolo's tech list sticky in here, a thread you're looking for is listed in there.
