...Sometimes when I am the only person on my computer and try to loggin it says that my IP adress has had too many failed attemps to loggin, and it won't let me go to my main nation...can someone tell me if someone might be hacking my account?

Can't say for sure, but it's a definite possibility.

If you're using a public computer, it could be someone before you had a problem logging in and created the block. Also, if you're using dial-up access, someone else could've done the same to the IP you happen to use then.

However, it seems a tad odd that I haven't heard of this problem before... The IP lock lasts (I heard) about 45 minutes, so perhaps someone in your home used the computer before you and is doing this to annoy you?

The only other thing I can think of is that you got that message once, and that you're pulling it from a cache instead of downloading it, but then it shouldn't be the kind of problem that comes and goes.

(I hope that rambling helped in some form, if not please ignore...)

Are you using a dial up connection? Most dial up connections give you a different ip every time you log on for security reasons taken from a pool of ips used by your isp. If someone else who just happened to be assigned your ip before you was messing about with passwords then logged off, i suppose it's possible that you could get the same ip within a 45 min period.

Either way, it won't be anyone hacking your account, as the ip block goes by ip (obviously) rather than nation. If i were to try and hack your nation now (disclaimer: i'm not going to), i would be blocked and you would never know.

If you use AOL, this can happen because of the dynamic way in which AOL assigns IP addresses and shares them.

Don't worry about it. There are many AOL users of NS. You just need to realise that sometimes this will happen to you (though not commonly).
