National animal troubles

OOC:

My nation's description says that the 'Really Great Whale' is both a protected species and the nation's favorite main course.

...the Really Great Whale is a protected species, and much of the Oglethorpia's computer network is controlled by a rampant artificial intelligence. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Oglethorpia's national animal is the Really Great Whale, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Commutable Credit.

I'm not sure if it's meant to be that way; because it doesn't make too much sense to me.

Hmmm. That's odd. But maybe the government protects it, and the whalers don't give a shit.

This kind of stuff happens all the time. Diffrent responces to diffrent issues get you, sometimes, contradictory things like this. Both these choices came from the "(National animal) on the table?" issue.

That's because @@ANIMAL@@ on the Table issue came up twice and once you selected the protected species option and another time you picked the option allowing the excess animals to be shot and consumed (rather than thrown by the ditch).

Well, why would it accept both? So if I got it a third time, and decided to throw the dead ones in a ditch, i'd have all three options in my nation description?

I'd think that it would be only one of the options; but apparently two can be true for a nation, despite the fact that they are conflicting.

i dont think it works like that, if you chose the ther option the next time it would probably get rid of both of the other statements (or at least one of them) and add that one

No, the system does work like that. If you do choose differing options on the same issue within 4 issues, then both options get reflected in your spotlight.

That's probably it.
