..are the servers that run this site a POS!? It usually takes me 10-20 tries to successfully opena thread or whatever. I realize the site is pretty busy but ughh...this is unbearable. Am I alone in my troubles or is this how this place always was?? :evil:

Actually, the server is suprisingly good. It just has a surplus of users at certain times (mainly when the Americans come home from work at around 10-12pm GMT or 4-6pm EST and when the Europeans do the same at 4-6pm GMT or 10-12EST).
The servers/daemons that come with Redhat aren't designed to handle 5000 simultaneous users, hehehe. Unfortunately this means that you can sometimes get timed out because the server can't handle your request.

It used to be like that for everyone (when there were far more people in the game), but now it runs pretty smoothly for most people. It's more likely that the problem is on your end of the line.

It's possible that it's your computer. On my old one with an 8gb hard drive, 64mb SDRAM, and 56k connection, loading the forum was really tedious, and usually didn't even work. After getting 256 SDRAM, 60gb hard drive, and 1500k connection, things run a lot more smoothly.

..possibly...my pc is an old pos but doesnt give me problems anywhere else. I'm on dial up as well so the tedium factor is baddd. All that should really matter is connection speed. I used ot have 1500kbps braodband but canned it thinking I was moving soon which didnt pan out so went back to stinky dial up for temporary usage..I hate it I hate it I HATE IT!!!! :evil:
