My "nation is renowned for..." flip flops

The last issue I decided (yesterday) was the budget issue, and I put more money into defense. Today, I noticed something strange.

Instead of the "...pleasant nation, renowned for its compulsory military service" at the beginning, it said "...pleasant nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape." Hmm? What caused this change? To make things more confusing, it keeps alternating between the two. I hit refresh, and it changes. Hit refresh, stays same. Hit refresh again, changes. Etc... Is this just something wrong with my end (connection, cache, etc...) or what? I don't see how I could have gotten a barren landscape in the first place, unless my new armies crushed the flowers underfoot... There wasn't an eco option... :?

<As a side note, is there an issue out there that will allow my national animal to frolic in the nation's many lush forests, or have I missed out?>

My thoughts on the subject:

Your "priority" list (social welfare, education, the environment, spirituality, etc.) includes "military" and "the environment." It seems two priorities are now tied. As a result, your country is waffling between them per the server's random number generator.

Every time the page is refreshed, it goes to see what you want to be "renowned" for, sees both numbers are equal, and just picks one. If you want to be renowned for one or the other, choose military or the environment in the next issue to break the tie (or wait for it to fix itself over the course of several issues.)

The same answer applies for your many lush forests. If the environment is a priority in your nation, you will have many forests for your animal to frolic in. If not, it won't. Depends on what your priorities are? Economy? Freedoms? Same decision-making here.

Actrually, there are a bunch of things that can go there and depending on your current stats, choices on previous issues, and possibly some of your questionare choices, you might have more then one of them available. Apperently you have the compulsory military one, which comes from either really high millitary spending or choosing compullsory service on one of the few issues that let you, and the really bad environment one. Since you have two possibilities, it picks one at random (which is why it keeps changing when you refresh).

<As a side note, is there an issue out there that will allow my national animal to frolic in the nation's many lush forests, or have I missed out?> The answer to this lies in Uranium mining. Don't let it happen and your animal frollics.

I've noticed that your renowned changes every time you load the page. I've had barren, ihospitable landscapes, compulsory military service, lack of empathy, etc, all within seconds of each other.

It's because you're renowned for so many things, people can't decide which is the best :D

One of the problems is that my nation's animal is the salmon, which somehow manages to flourish in my nation's many lush forests.

One of my nations has the sand worms from dune as a national animal ... fortunetly, I keep the landscape quite barren.

Don't forget "featherbellyed trout" .. another oddity.

perhaps in ns2 you can choose the enviroment your animal lives in (mine would be the woods)

key things to help the environment basically don't chop down the rainforests, let your animals roam free and possibly don't mine gold from your lake that might help?
