Is it possible to add new industries?

Not sure whether this goes here, or NSII.
Posted here cause I wondered if it was possible to add new industries to NS1.
Some industries that could added would be
toy manufacturing
electronics
entertainment
telecommunications
financial (would require a minimum good economy)
biotechnology
aerospace (would include manufacture of planes and space products)

May be someone else can think of some other industries.
Adding these might make the game more interesting.

thatd be pretty cool, give more room when building issues.

And if it was for NS1 it would go in here

I was wondering about this too.

don't forget - a good pornography industry is the backbone of the american economy

Aerospace would be really useful. There are already a couple of issues dealing with this (the make a rocket one comes to mind).

I imagine it would only take a few extra variables under the hood to track new industries, but Salusa has said changes that affect the site (as the players see it) are hard to make.

I'm actually not sure how difficult this would be, it's an interesting idea. I'll poke around a bit, but definitely don't get your hopes up.

Good ideas! The way i see it good rp is a result of well made issues, ie we role play building rockets etc then somewhere along the line the issue gets made to build one thus reenforcing the rp.

It can work both ways, take a look at how you like to rp your nation then propose issues with further that.:)

banking and finance are the same thing though.
Farming would be agriculture

It is a billion dollar industry, but would you really want to legitimize it to younger children?

Would these two largely be covered by IT?

Would these two largely be covered by IT?
IT would be stuff like videogames, computer software, computers, internet connections (high speed, broadband).

Electronics would cover stuff like Tvs, stereos, air conditioners, home appliances, VCR's, DVD players.

Telecommunications would your telephones, and cell phones, and dial up connections. Also includes sattelite broadcast and communications systems.

IT deals mostly with the software portion of, say making your internet connection work. Elecronics, which would be your computer would cover the hardware. And telecommunications would cover the transmission of data over that network (by line or sat comm., though it is possible to have internet via radio communications).

Telecommunications also includes the telephone lines and cable lines for cable television.

An energy industry would include powerplants and high voltage power lines with all that substation stuff. But that would probably be better included under a utilities industry that would include electric power and water, and gas supply. (Would include the oil industry).

This would require more a change to issues than anything else. A player specifies their desired economy, and instead of "leader of the automobile industry" it would be "leader of the @@industry@@ industry"
