Always the same issues

22-11-2003, 10:10
I always get the same 5-6 issues, sometimes one day after the other.
I get 2 per day, so it's really really boring.......

This started after the crash (huge black out) I think.

Might be a problem, but it also could be an issue of you choosing the same option each time. More likely it is the problem listed here. (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=81296&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0)

If you have tech issues, always good to check this sticky. Simply scroll down a little and you wil find this:

NEW! [ My flag isn't updating after I upload a new one/It says I have outstanding issues, but I've answered them/1000 other problems about pages not looking like what they are supposed to.

This is a problem with caching. The pages/flag/whatever is updating fine, but your browser is using an older version of the page when it is displayed. Caching is something your browser does to save bandwidth (especially for 56k users, who need all the bandwith they can get) by not re-downloading the same files every time it visits a page. Users with slower connections can use ctrl+f5 (force full refresh) to re-download the page just this once while keeping caching enabled if they want.(by Naleth (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=Naleth))

It's almost definitely not a cache problem, although it's probably too early to say since we have so few details. A problem with the cache would simply mean one would be unable to view the issues at all; check the links in issues - they refer to various issue ids. Change the ids in the links to an issue you haven't got in your issue bank, and you just get an NS logo. So I'm pretty sure this isn't a problem with the cache.

ya, for the past week or so, i have repeatedly been getting issues i just recently got, as has everyone i know. We all started playing about 3-4 weeks ago at the same time.
Yesterday i got an issue for the 3rd time (once during my first week, and again about a week ago).

What is really annoying, is that just today i got an issue that i had gotten YESTERDAY, and i also got it a couple weeks ago.

Since we've only been playing for a month, its easy to remember all the issues we've gotten, and they have definately just started repeated incessantly. In the past week i've gotten 1 issue i havnt seen before (out of 2 issues per day)

I suggest you:

1. Move out of your region, and then move back in. Don't worry about endorsements, etc. So long as you do the jumpt in between UN updates you'll retain them.

2. Set issues to 0 for a day, then set them back

Either or both of these may be completely useless, but between them they probably cover most simple explanations. Of course, it's possible that this is random. The server doesn't try to ensure you don't get repeat issues in a short timescale, so this could be a 'run', so to speak

I would give it a few more days and see if you are still recieving the same isues after this few days.
25-11-2003, 17:25
its been over a week now, and my last 3 issues since writing this were also repeat. ill try the suggestions above
26-11-2003, 16:02
After few days, I keep on recieving the same 4-5 issues...
I will try the suggestions above as well, I'll keep you updated.

Thanx !

didnt work. they are still repeating the issues. i tried both suggestions above.
27-11-2003, 00:16
I'm having the same problem. I've got the same issue three times in three days now.
28-11-2003, 18:39
ok, this is getting seriously annoying now. ive only had my account about a month, and the issues the past week have ALL been repeats of things i got earlier in the month. I have gotten 3 issues 3 times already. This is no fun at all, and ive done both the things you listed above

It could be that you aren't old enough to get new issues and don't qualify for many of the old ones. That would mean you have only a very few (possibly as low as 5 or 6) issues you can get, so they will repeat frequently. Once you hit a month (I think it is) then you will likely start to recieve different issues.

No, he's over a month old, and there are 30 issues that new nations qualify for anyway.
29-11-2003, 12:59
That didn't work for me either. I keep on receiving the same issues, and my nation is much older than a month.

That is just amazingly boring, I will stop receiving issues and I'll just check that topic once in a while to see if the problem can be fixed.

my last 3 issues have been 3 time repeats now.
is anyone looking into this? im about ready to just stop playing, as i cant really play anyway getting the same things over and over. :(

Just be patient. As the issues are random, sometimes this will happen.

Even everyday during more than 2 weeks (with 2 issues per day) ?

Nope, after more than 30 times receiving the same 3 or 4 issues, I just stopped receiving any.

In general, seeing the exact same issues repeatedly crop up means one of two things.

First, it could just be the random luck of the draw. There are about 80 issues in the game now (although no nation qualifies for all of them), so you can probably work out how likely it is to get repeats.

Second, it could be a caching problem, as mentioned here (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=problems). In this case, your nation is getting new issues, but you can't tell, because you're seeing an old page. Follow the link and you'll be given some steps to try. I'm still investigating this one; it may only affect AOL users.

I'm assuming here that when people say they are receiving "the same issues over and over", they're talking about a very small number of repeating issues -- for example, getting nothing but the Harry Potter issue for days on end. Because there's a limited pool of issues, so the older your nation gets, the more likely it is to receive an issue you've dealt with at least once before.

Kibbutzim, you've set your nation to receive "Zero" issues per day. I can't investigate what's happening while you're on that setting.
04-12-2003, 17:23
I'm back on 2 per day now, just for you :)

On "current issues" page, I always see a list of issues I know, always the 4-5 same issues, and more known issues are added there when I don't dismiss them, so it ain't a page update problem coz this page grows.

Well, farewell Nationstates, I'm out of the game... I have a technical lose...

Yeah, if you play the game just for issues you likely won't last long, even if you recieve all of them.
21-12-2003, 07:17
I don't play just for issues, but with 4 issues in loop you just get an extrem nation regarding Civil Rights, Economy and Political Freedoms.

Oh yeah? ;)

I lasted seven months - on just thirty issues, mind you, before venturing into the site beyond just my nation
