The question is, what happens to my nation's stats if I resign from the UN, join, resign, join, resign, etc...

From a discussion in the UN:

Actually no, I'm not asking for stats to be reset.

Incorrect. If you join the UN, your stats are amended in accordance with the resolutions which have been passed. If a resolution is repealed, it is effectively "un-passed" and thus the stats in relation to it would need to be re-set.
This is the manner in which the game works.

:?

I'm sorry, but I get confused by this. So if I join the UN, my nation's stats will be amended according to all resolutions prior to my entry? I was under the impression that old resolutions didn't affect the stats? What happen if I resign, join, resign, and join? Will my stats then be amended three times in total?

I'm not exactly sure (SalusaSecondus would probably be the person to ask). All I know is that it was demonstrated several months ago that previously-passed UN resolutions will have an effect on newly joined nations. I don't know exactly how it works from there.

No, Enodia is mistaken. UN member nations are only affected by resolutions that pass while they are members.

Fair enough. I should probably point out that my knowledge of that sort of thing was limited to what PropLab2 found out in the dark ages of NS.

Wasn't it being planned for this to be changed? I remember a discussion about currently not being able to repeal resolutions, and one of the things that's needed to make repeals truly possible is to enforce passed resolutions on new UN nations as well.

That's interesting... so one could check the UN, enter the UN when he sees the current resolution at vote would boost his stats, leave when he sees it'll not go in the direction he wants... Now, that gives me ideas. :P

It has worked that way for as long as I know. It's also a discrepancy between the way the UN is implemented and the way it's generally RPed. While for RP purposes prior resolutions are usually all considered to be in effect, for nation stats purposes only some could have had effect, or none at all! So basically, where the FAQ says all UN nations must abide by passed resolutions as 'price' of membership... that should be taken with a very large dose of salt ;)
