ego search

Sketch

My ego search says I have 39 pages of stuff, but yet my content ends on page 27. Why is that? I am unable to find several old threads that I have posted in. I am looking for research purposes, ie what I did back in the day.

I'm not sure why this happens, but I think it's got to do with posts being deleted (in purges, for example). It's also probably the same reason sometimes long threads think they have more pages then they do and that the last several pages of the forums are empty except for announcements.

I was looking up Slag the other day, and he's got over 200 pages, but only about 80 have anything on them. I think the forums need badly to be resynchronized.

Mods will be messed up more because none of our posts in the moderator forum will show for you.

Good point.

<--- curses Forum 7

Now about that resynchronization (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/admin/admin_forums.php?mode=forum_sync&f=1)....;)

You would think that resyncing would fix this problem, but it doesn't. Apparently our DB is too messed up even for resyncing to get it right.

Hey, violet, wondering what php runtime engine is used on NS. Also I suppose you use mysql for the forum db? It tends to get damn slow with time. :/

What's a DB?

Not me, is it? Have I not been compiling all those posts right? Should be sacked.

Data Base. Basically the big structured files where the posts are stored. They are organized with indexes and all kind of wizardry so that you can make requests on the data without waiting days for an answer. As a consequence, DBs come with a software and a language that you can use to interact with them.

DB = Database, and yes we're using mySQL.
