Compliance ministry.

Argh, yet again. I've been "brought into line" on a UN resolution I voted for, that hasn't even been passed yet (World Heritage Act was still on the table when I check after recieving the telegram)

Please explain.

Interesting.

I have likewise had this happen. I'm assuming that, for some strange reason, the compliance ministry telegram sits at the start of an update cycle whilst the resolution update sits somewhere else in it...

This would seem rather daft, though. And it's just a hypothesis.

Strange. I also got the compliance telegram, but the thing is still on the floor of the UN.

Strange.

Yes, I know, weird.

I voted AGAINST it after an arguement by Guthark and Noticing tha Sirocco and Loop had also, and whenit is still on the floor you can imagine that I'm not exactly thrilled.

"Ministry of Compliance" sounds a little 1984-ish to me.

I got this T/G as well. I voted against it too. Resolution still seems up to me. Agree that I do not like its name so much.

I would like to know how the Ministry of Compliance goes into a sovereign nation (thousands of them), and "changes" it's laws? Is there some little "attache case carrying dweeb" that is sent all over the world and magically shows up and forces all member nations to comply... or else!!! If you don't comply, you won't get your pudding?

I owuld agree with Phoebos, "the check-for-pass, telegram UN members," probably comes before the "remove resolution, archive?" command in the UN update. I would be willing to bet that votes passed after the telegramming begins don't count for anything, since they have already been checked.

We could even test this on the next proposal, if we were organized enough, by having everyone change their votes after telegramming begins. I wouldn't mind seeing a proposal that is recorded as "passed" ... ~5000 for, ~ 7000 against, if the vote check is done while arcihving, but the pass/fail before.

I think the idea of the UN is that the members sacrifice their national sovereignty when they join the place. This is why Wolfsreich belongs to the Meritocracy...our national sovereignty is guaranteed, and UN membership is prohibited.

The server has been having some big problems with Issues/UN recently, hasn't it? I just got my second with my new issue :P

I got two.

I've received three so far, but I deleted each one as it came in so maybe that's why. Not sure why, but I did receive three tonight.

This "Compliance Ministry" BS must be stopped. They recently put into place a "Spam Stop" measure, preventing us from sending a telegram within a minute of another, yet have the nerve to spam us with pointless messages from the Compliance Ministry? I recieved 2 about the same resolution. This is madness!

So long as it doesn't mean the effects of the resolution are to be enforced twice...

*shudders*

It's bad enough with the recent batch of badly worded and misleading "feel-good-sounding" but "horrible-in-practice" resolutions that got passed. But if the effects were in anyway amplified... :x

Now here comes an even scarier resolution, if this one goes through we'll all be forced to become vegans or starve.

Within minutes? I got two telegrams from the Compliance Ministry about the Heritage List twice 9 hours apart.

I have a bad feeling that your suspicions may be on-target. However, I don't have game code access, so I don't know.

Yeah, I got that as well. Don't know if it 9 hours apart, exactly, though, but it was hours apart. :?

There are two server updates every day, the major update at around 4 AM EST and the minor update at around 4 PM EST. The scheduling system may have something to do with this. Again, though, I don't have game code access.

Are you sure the stats werent doubled? My nation seems noticabley different than it was before the update. If the stats were only changed once, though, I don't have a real problem with having got the two telegrams.

If you don't like the new proposal, there's a new UN resolution (in the resolution section) that amends World Heritage, so that nations can only place their own territory on the heritage list. ('World Heritage Amendment')

<blatant plug> There's also a resolution that I created up there, "Personal Justice," that states 'persons can not be held responsible for the crimes of their race or ansestry.' </blatant plug>

Ironically, I didn't vote for the "Hertiage Act" issue, and Me too, got 2 TGs. The second came a few hours afthe first for me I believe.

For the record, I've noticed that irrespective of Daylight Savings Time, the UN resolutions votes always close at 5 PM ET. However, I was in Camden on Friday and so I can't help with the t-gram timings. I did get two t-grams, but that's all I know.

The UN had a little trouble dragging itself back after the brief server crash. All is well in the world now, though.

As much of an RL environmentalist I may be, the double effect of this resolution increased the size of my government (which I have been trying to oblitirate... building Anarcho-communism is enough of a pain in the ass in this game) and kicked Social Welfare down to #3 on my priority list.

But I'll survive... don't cry for me, [violet]

It was. Be happy it wasn't trippled like it was for some people. (not me, though)
