I hope this isn't in another thread somewhere else or anything but I couldn't really find it. I was wondering how you could actually buy ships and planes and stuff. Or are they just for fun on the forums only?

All buying and selling and anything about money or budget is entirely RP.
There are probably stickies in NS/II that tell you about some of the more widely accepted aspects of RPing in NS, but I wouldn't know since i never go in there.

You could check this out:

That should tell you what you can afford for more realistic RPing.
