About multiple UN memberships in the same household...

I was just wanting to ask this before I go and get myself booted out of the UN the instant I join.
I and my fiancee both play NationStates from the same internet connection. For now, I'm using DSL, and her computer connects to the internet via a proxy server I have set up on my system. If we were to both join the UN, would that end up getting us banned?
The proxy situation is only temporary, mind you, as we'll soon be in a more standard networking situation, I hope, but, that might still bring about the same problems... Any idea how the anti-multi sweeps will view this?

My advice: Don't do it.

This game also uses login patterns and IP address matching, and 2 other ways (I think)

I would strongly advise against it, we have had problems like this in the past, just don't do it.

Using the same internet connection is fine -- this happens a lot and we can tell the difference. It's when you use the same computer, especially if one of you logs in quickly followed by the other, that you're at risk of being ejected from the UN.

Okay, then. Thanks a lot for fillin' me in.

Also, I'll add. My sister and I share a computer and internet; if you logout before she logs in to her nation, it will be fine. My sister have been doing this for months and we are fine.

Actually, that's not necessarily the case. Any time you share a computer to access mutiple UN member nations you're taking a risk, whether you log the previous one out first or not.

i have a brother and we were both in the UN and got kicked out. we should be allowed 2 as people in the same household may also wish to use nationstates

Yes, I was banned from the United Nations under the same pretenses. One member per house. I used to let my friends use my computer because they had none. They do not allow that either.

Just forewarning you, for your own good.

the only problem is you can't trust people.

While that would be "good" I can see bad coming along too (invaders could lie & you would not know & 2 invaders could easily take over a region with 3- endorsments)

I am another to fall foul of this. Is there no way to solve this, or could there be a reprive for the first nation to join the UN and the other gets removed? I joined first, then my brother joined without my knowledge.

Not unless we ask for Social Security numbers or something.

I completely understand how this is annoying for people who share a computer, but it's necessary to protect the integrity of the system.

What about seperate computers that share a broadband connection? Or what about seperete computers that share the same Dial-up ISP?

Would it not be more fair, therefor, to offer one of the nations a place, and the other one cannot? Erm, Social Security numbers? ... Well ...

Well ...actually, using someone's SSN to "prove" they're different would only work if everyone on this site was in the USA. As there are several New Zealanders and Australians (among other nationalties) on this site, the SSN will not work

Ouch...

Computers charing the same IP (if you have multiple computers behind a "Broadband Router" ... or any kind of router ... you all have the same IP as far as NS is concerned) will always be at some risk.
