Return Glitch

The Republic Of Iraq

Just a weird one-time thing? It's the only time it's happened so far but I had posted in another forum as this nation, the page came up telling me I had posted successfully but before the post/thread could load I accidently hit Return to Jennifer Government NationStates... and ended up on my other nation's page... logged in as that UN nation! Funny thing is I never logged out.
I'm wondering if I show as having logged out because I know I didn't actually do it myself.

It just happened again but differently! I was viewing the Forum as the quoted nation, clicked on my name when reading one of my posts, it took me to the page where you choose to view the posts by the nation or go view the nation, I clicked View The Republic Of Iraq and it took me to the view page alright... but I was viewing it as *United Morgan* and *not* as *The Republic Of Iraq*!
Again, I never logged out/in.

I viewed my own page as United Morgan fine, seemed to view the Forum fine on my first try, logged out and back in as The Republic Of Iraq okay to.
I'm not running codes or anything either so I'm really curious about this.
Is anybody else having this happen?

Just viewed my nation through the View Posts/View Nation page fine.
I guess I'll just have to wait and see if it was just some weird little glitch. If it isn't and there's actually a problem with NationStates then the potential for chaos is pretty high.

Hmm... sounds like a cookie problem. My advice would be to check that only one nation is set to autologin, delete all your cookies at nationstates, and then try again.

Thanks! I'll try that autologin suggestion because as that other nation it just happened again only this time it was after clicking Submit after composing a post.

I've been back and forth between nations and this seems to have cleared everything up. :)

This can happen because the game and the forum aren't integrated all that tightly. Basically the forum is a free package from www.phpbb.com that's been customized a little and stuck onto the side of NationStates.

When you enter the forum, NationStates authenticates your account for you, but that's the last it hears from you until you re-enter the game. If you spend more than 30 minutes or so in the forum, your game login (not your forum login) times out. When you re-enter the game you find you're either logged out or auto-logged in as whichever nation you've got autologin set up for.

Yesterday was the first time I've been able to stick around long enough to notice. I have only The Republic Of Iraq set to autologin now. The only problem now is I sometimes have to log back in even as Iraq but it's not that big a deal even though my passwords are intentionally long and strange.
I just copy & paste from a text file, saves time, trouble, and guards against any spyware that may be on my pc that I'm unaware of. They can't read the pw since it's not typed.
Thanks for the information. :)
