New Issues too far-fetched (spoilers)

Were these honestly the best new issues?? Of the ones I got, the only one that seems at least somewhere within the realms of reality is the monopoly issue. But these other ones??? What a waste. S&M, nudity, human sacrifices... I'm not naive to think that the game is a realistic depiction of the real world but c'mon. These aren't exactly issues that contemporary national governments deal with. At the most, these are fringe issues which fade away within a couple of months with minimal consequences (Not including human sacrifices... But I'm not even gonna' go into that one).
Unless you like the idea of wacky countries dealing with over the top issues, these issues are just way too far fetched and will result in a large portion of my dismissals in the future. Simply a waste.

I think you're missing the part of this exercise where what you are playing is described as a "game". I feel some of the new issues are a refreshing change over the old stuff. Sure some it may be over the top but as you said, don't like it? Dismiss it.

I acknowledge it's a game. I still say the issues should be more embedded in reality.
I think you're missing the point when I say I will be dismissing a large portion of the new issues. We don't get new issues very often so when I dismiss much of them, it's a waste since me and I assume a lot of other people will have to wait months for new ones.
Thanks for the input nonetheless.
I've just delt with one dealing with extra state funding for the arts, that's a very contempory issue here in the UK.

There's going to be a steady flow of new issues from hereon, so no one will have to wait months.

Just think about the issues that didn't got used...
Yeah, they probably were full of mistakes like that.

I haven't gotten the arts one yet but from how you describe it, it sounds okay.
Yeah, now that I think about it, if I thought these issues were bad, I shudder to think about the ones that didn't make it...
And if the next bunch of issues come within a relatively short amount of time, I can live with a bunch of DUD issues for now. Thanks.
Oh yeah. Picking on people's typoes is sorta' lame. I think we're better people than that.

Are you referring the one with the "shoot the poets" option? I loved that, and the other one about making a TV program out of people trying to get in the country... through deadly traps... heh. "Running man" style...
BTW, the issues effect are reinstated? I mean, If I get a new issue today, and I dismiss it, the other four I made a decission will affect my country again, just the last one, or I don't get any effect in that day?
So, if it's the four of them, each decision affects the country for 4 days, if it is only the last one, then it will affect my country until I make a new decision on an issue, but if it's none, no effect will happen to my country until a new issue is addressed.
I am from Holland, my no speaka englis very well
DarkSith: the issues will affect your nation for the rest of it's lifetime, only the results of the issue will remain in the nation description for 4 days (depends on settings)

Actually, you are not answering my question:
Unless you pick a decission that counters the other, of course the change is permanent, but..
Let's say that a decision in an issue gets you a pop increase of normal+5 million.
Now, is that a one-time (until the issue appears again), making the decision descriptive line just a show of your last four issue addresses?
Does it increase your pop in normal+5 for as long as it is in the description line?
If you keep addressing issues, that would mean you get a minimum additional pop increase of 20 million (5 x 4 days) while it is being displaced.
Or does it increase you pop in normal+5 for as long as it is the last decision made?
If in the next issue you make a decision, that makes just an increase of 5 million, but if you dismiss furhter issues, you get a permanent daily increase of normal+5 million. Talk about baby boom.
So which one? my vote is on the first, but I'd like it was the second.

all issues will affect your country.

So you mean the second is correct?
As long as an issue decision is in the description line, it affects your country every refresh?

No. After you've decided on an issue, it is implemented in your nation ("legislation is passed"). This means that the statistics that describe your nation will be altered. Once per decision implemented, no more.
The last four decisions you've made are shown on your nation's page, to give observer a glance at what decisions you've been making lately.
So, in your hypothetical example, you'd get +5 million population once when your decision on the issue is implemented. When you get the same issue again at a later time, and decide the same way again, you'll get another +5 million upon implementation.

Could you share a few of the REALLY REALLY bad ones, just for laughs? Make them anonymous though, to protect the guilty :)
