Hi, its that time again when i have an idea and it normally gets pummeled into the ground!

But here goes.....

How about instead of Post-oriented rankings. We have Mod ranking? Like based on how many bad marks we have to our name, how much we help, if we are aggresive of passive, good or evil etc...

This could be good for new nations as they know who they can ask for help etc....

What do ya all think?

I know it would takes ages to do so it would only happen to old nations. But it would give the mods something fun to do :D

This reminds me of a karma system that some other forums use. For every violation, a moderator slaps someone with a negative point of karma. When that person gets down to some arbitrary value (say, -10), they're banned from that forum.

But for that to happen, the forums would have to be taken down for a while whilst [violet] adds the new code to it, and Max's inbox would explode with n00b-mail.

Also, can you imagine the threads? 'Who smited me? What did I do?'. It would get completely out of control

I'm gonna have to agree here. It would be easy enough with Invision forums, as a 'Prestige' system is already included and can be used.
With phpbb2, it would require a lot of tinkering with the source code, would take up more serverspace, and generally put more strain on the server.
Perhaps an idea for NS2, but at the moment I think the mods just keep a note of their 'strikes.'

It would take to much work. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea, but I think it would take to much time, and I doubt mods would jump for the idea of custom forum titles for everyone, along with custom nation titles for some.

They don't have it on phpBB, but on Invision Free, you can set up a warning system. For admins, you click on the little + or - to warn or un warn. You click on your option, and write a little note on why. You can view this list at any time.

After being warned a certian number of times, they are banned.

Hmm. I know there's a "cash-system" hack avaliable for phpBB, if this idea was to go higher, I suspect that it wouldn't take too much effort for an experienced tinkerer to convert it to a Karma system (and someone probably already has, you know...)

That said, Karma/Points based systems tend to lead to rather shocking cases of cliques forming. I probably wouldn't support such a move - these sorts of ideas always sound good in theory, but crash to the ground in practice...

I like the idea, so please don't take this as a negative. I feel that it is too subjective. Specificlly, I can guess with some level of certainty that certain mods would have a different stacking of me then others. So, I am not sure how accurate or fair it would. Also, the whole lot of work thing.

Well, we already have stuff kind of like that. We keep track of who has been warned for what and compare notes, so if there is a repeat offence . . .
