I was just wondering if the mods do have the power to find out nation's passwords?

(sorry if this has been asked before  )

I think the Game moderators might be able to,I know Salusa has a way of telling in general if people have identical passwords

Yes.

They can tell if people have identical passwords, but they don't know what said password is. ;)

I doubt it somehow if they use any sane method of encryption on the passwords (something like MD5 or crypt, for example).

Anyway, why would they want to find it out when they can just change it anyway?

All passwords are encrypted using a one-way encryption scheme. Thus, it is impossible for any of us to know your password. Both the GMs and myself have access to your encrypted password, which is, for all intents and purposes completely useless.

I think that a GM can take a password off though, thus controlling the nation without having to change the password.

But of course, they would never give anyone control of a nation, regardless of any claims to ownership and amnesia. There is no way of telling to whom it belonged. Really, the best way to avoid losing a nation is specifing an active e-mail account in the Settings. Complacency rules, but you would be surprised how often that comes up.
