No more regional control for Delegates?
Hello!
Since I'm the founder of our region I have access to the regional control panel. At least... I think I do. I kinda missed the fact that I had to apply for that (our region is fairly old). I'm also the Delegate. So firstly, how can I tell that I have control because I'm founder or delegate?
And then, I was trying to switch off the access to regional control for the delegate (it was mainly to test, so that in the unlikely event of a sudden flood of new people who try to take over the region we could protect ourselves). However, when I try to do that I get the error "The UN Delegate setting for this region is locked: it cannot be altered.". Why is that? Can you help me with that?
Should it be because I'm not really recognized as founder this creates a lot of problems, considering that we (the five original regions) would have no way of keeping the region peaceful and friendly, should the delegate change.
Thank you for your help.

You are not the founder as you are not listed as such on the regional website.

But why is that so? I most certainly am the founder. I mean, I founded it! I'm just not listed as that it seems... *ears droops* I didn't realize there had been a change. Isn't there ANY entry in the database that proves that? Way back when we all started we moved together into our region which I founded and we would like to make sure we can keep it. Do we have to move away now in order to get control?

In order to get founder status, yes. Have everyone leave the region, let it die in the next update, and refound the region so you are the founder.

I'd like to point to www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page%3Ddisplay_region/region%3Dmount_greenwood_bay&hl=en]this (http://www.google.nl/search?q=cache:7Q5XwzkyrF4J:[url) page[/url] (let's hope this works) containing a cached Google page of this nation's region. It proves he has been the delegate continuously for many, many months, and that the region has been essentially asleep for a similar timeperiod.
Also, the XML nation list of his region has his nation listed first.
While this doesn't actually prove his claim of being the original founder of the region, it rules out a lot of other possibilities. It matches the story of missing the earlier applications for foundership recognition (being dormant).
(One unusual item in there though: Tomvee ceased to exist, yet walked out/in alive later on? Did resurrections earlier on not involve Lazarus or something? That's what it looks like to me.)
Requests for Foundership recognition used to be submitted through the Getting Help page (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=help), if memory serves me. I seem to have some problems locating the old thread that covered this. Also, the Mods may have decided to stop doing that alltogether, in which case you'd be simply SOL.

Ah yes, all of this is accurate. I founded Mount Greenwood Bay way back when I signed up and had all my RL friends move there (which now make up the core of our region). I've been delegate since day 1, mainly for the reason to be able to give us a nice entry in the fact book (much else wasn't possible yet then). It's also accurate that the region appeared to be dormant for a while, but that was because we felt intimidated by the possiblity of "strangers" walking in and out. Most of our RP has taken place outside of the chatboards since we're IRL friends, as pointed out before. All this has changed with the arrival of The Jingoistic States of Djingis Khan who rather stirred us up. Now we all enjoy our on board RPing. We enjoy the region as it is right now and we welcome new region, but we'd rather not be flooded with too many strangers. But we don't want to password protect it either. It's tricky...
Now, apparently I can't seem to prove sufficiently that I have founded Mount Greenwood Bay, other than the word of the core members (which also happen to be the oldest members in the region) and my personal records (including maps and all). We all don't feel very happy at the prospect of having to leave the nation, especially since we're not sure if the new regions that recently joined would follow. We would also hate to abandon such a beautiful spot such as ours, so close to the mountain and the sea. I also seem to have found that the moderators have stopped appointing Founders.
This is truly unfortunate indeed...
And about the curious disappearance of the Republic of Tomvee. A great rumble had shaken the area of Mount Greenwood Bay and our beloved neighbors had been buried for months. First we did not notice that until we sent a delegation to discuss our latest education exchange programs. With united force we managed to free them and bring them back. (In reality the computer appeared to have ignored Tomvee's frequent log-ins and deleted him from the system. He mailed repeatedly until his nation was reinstated).
