Uploading Custom Flag
It says the image must be in .jpg format and no larger than 6 Kb. I used Adobe Photoshop to convert my image into jpeg and I used the highest compression, yet it is still 7 Kb. Plus, it looks very bad at such a low quality level. So can I upload my flag as a gif? That would make much more sense. I can get it to 2 Kb as a gif, and it doesn't sufer any loss in quality. Why do we have to upload them as jpegs? That's just stupid.

Because gif's can be animated while jpg's can't.
Imagine all the fun I could have animating a shock gif that triggered after it was viewed for a minute or two..LOL

Do what everybody else seems to be doing: just upload the gif. If necessary just rename the file to have a .jpg extension.
There's many animated gifs already out there, btw. As long as your flag is flag-like, does not contain a swastika, nudity, etc..., and of reasonable dimensions, you're highly unlikely to get into any kind of trouble.

Yes, but remember that some browsers don't process PNG's properly...

What browsers would these be? PNGs are hardly new, I first saw them supported back in the late 1990s.

MSIE has still to learn how to read them; I have to have Quicktime installed to view them properly in IE6...

Oh. I thought QuickTime came bundled into Windows these days. I have certainly seen it included in Win 95, 98 and NT. Don't newer versions have it as a matter of course?
I have quiktime just recent installed. Windows is so backward sometimes, but my guess is the Peng Pau uses Linux right? As soon as I know how to us Linux for internet, I do it too. I have it installed allready, and it works fine with Red Hat :)

Not that I know of.
Considering Quicktime is a product of Apple Computing, and Windows of Microsoft, I sincerely doubt it has ever been included... :D

NTLoader or LILO?
I had to check, but it boots up with LILO. Don't ask me which one, the manual doesn't say that

gif is perfectly fine, as for animating a flag, they are perfectly fine too, if you have ever looked at teh UN rankings in the world link, the Grendles has a animated flag and has had one since I started in January,
why you save it in photosop, yo need to make sure it doesnt save it with Icon previews, image only and uyse the save for web option, otherwise when you save it adds the custom Icon instead of the default Photoshop icon which can increase the size of the flag by upwards of 30 k

I was gonna say that .. then the last two posts beat me to it :(
Anyway, "Save for web" is also usefull because it tells you the size the file will be before you save it. I've also noticed that NS complains when my flag is above ~5.5k, not 6k.
