Child Casino Shock Question

07-10-2003, 23:37
The Issue
Children as young as eight have been spotted gambling in some of La Christiania's seedier casinos.

The Debate
Social activist Dave Utopia is outraged. "Gambling needs to be outlawed immediately. It's no wonder children are becoming sucked into the vice, with adults setting such a poor example. Gambling is a stain on La Christiania's international reputation and it must be stopped!"

This is the position your government is preparing to adopt.

However, Crown Casino chairperson Beth Barry says, "What's wrong with children gambling? It prepares them for the realities of life, teaching them that success or failure is not due to hard work or intelligence, but the roll of the dice. Besides, if kids weren't gambling, they'd be spraypainting trains."

Will the option I'm about to accept have any effect on my economy?

Never verified it, but it should. Gambling is one of the sectors of economy, and making gambling illegal will destroy that sector.

Too late, the issue's already been put into effect. My economy just dropped down to Good now also. Is there anyway to bring it back up (aside from mining Uranium)?

I think allowing racist TV-shows is also good for the economy, or privatizing the beaches, there are lots of ways..

The racist TV-show I'm iffy on, but I guess it would be a violation of civil rights to not allow people the choice...I guess

I'm not for the privatizing of beaches at all, so that one's out of the question for the moment.

No way at all I'm doing uranium mining, I've learned my lesson from that tragedy.

Tariffs I'm cool with, I don't mind them one bit, nor do I mind subsidies. And I'm willing to give out foreign aid to countries that will give me a share of their market.

Also, does supporting the automobile industry destroy the environment? Because if it doesn't that'll become my main industry.

The automobile industry will not destroy the environment, just degrade it enough to send you down in the UN rankings. It is a good one to support as far as the economy is concerned.

There is also the immigration one where you only allow immigrants who will work cheap or whatever it is. I think it increases apathy though.
