Bug? Economy stuck

06-10-2003, 15:32
Ok, long story short. I started with automobile industry which became soon cornerstone of my economy. It was usually around strong/very strong...

Then, one day I was kind of tired and bit preoccupied when I put answers to those issues I was getting. I accidentally outlawed cars. (didn't even think back then that option might have that dramatical effects) And automobile industry disappeared. Ok, my economy hit bottom.

But now it has been a long time and still, even with me trying to nurture my uranium mining industry to become new powerhouse for my economy I seem to be stuck with economy that is mainly around imploded/fragile.

Is this some kind of bug which prevents me from getting up again or is it on purpose?

I have three nations now with imploded economies. It's very hard to crawl up from rock-bottom  Nothing what I do makes it better, it stays imploded.
Well, let's wait for another player to tell us that we have to favor issues that are better for industry, like mining, lower taxes and put refugees to work.

My UN nation had the Automobile Industry as its main industry, and when I outlawed cars around two and a half months ago, it dropped from Good to Imploded over the course of a few days. I ended up with Beef-Based Agriculture taking over as the main industry.

What I did next was embark on a course of brutal capitalism. If there were tariffs to be put up, I put them up. If there were subsidies to be handed out, I handed them out. I allowed employers to fire workers on the spot, and made sure I gave out aid only to those nations which opened their markets to me. I allowed private concerns to fund the space industry, ramped up military spending, and allowed in refugees to do menial labour (I am now around 6,000th in the world for agriculture). When my taxation increased to 67%, I also gave the nation a tax cut, and it fell to a more healthy 56%.

My nation has now had a Powerhouse Economy for over a week and is still Democratic Socialist. In order to retain my Left / Centre credentials, I prevented big business from making political donations and stayed on the left when doing other issues.

It will take you a couple of months, but it can be done. Incidentally, I recently got back Automobile Manufacturing as my main industry.

It appears now that Uranium mining IS your main industri. Better be careful next time. ;)

I suggest you to follow Tactical grace's tactic! ;)

Even if in real life, a leftist politician would never use extreme right wing methods to reach the goal and then go back to leftist politics. :D

How ironic!

I once privatised beaches by mistake and it shot up to weak (and it took me a week to get back down).

As posted, I don;t think it is a bug.

I am stuck with a Fragile economy or weak economy for a couple of months at least, so I understand your frustration.
