Regional Search
Is it possible to improve the regional search function at all?
Perhaps adding functions like
Search by range of population
Search by Genre (regions would have to specify a genre)
Search by Age
Just wondering.......

A region could choose from certain criteria that best describe itself. Then a nation could search for a specific type of region
It would surely stop all those spammers from sending you scripted inviting TG's, because your region and mine will be much easier to find 8)
Right now have to beat all kind of automated recruiting spams, just to get someone to your place, which is almost impossible to find without a search engine :cry:

The data is easy to get and easy to fit in the system,but admin has not the time to code it into the system. I have different regions. Some are beer themes, gothic or nature lovers, that is something that's hard to code in. Themes change every day when people become more desperate for getting nations in their regios.
You'll never get the mods to do it, and admin is far to busy for it. It is a good idea, but I beg you not to hold your breath for it.

Don't give up, just because I said something negative. It's a good idea for NationStates 2 :lol: It's like a "YellowPages" for Regios. I really love the idea 8)

A simple place where you could advertize your own region would be cool too. Please don't suggest General, because everything scrolls away in 30 minutes :cry:

I'm not giving up on my idea. I was just thinking that they could fit it into NS2.
Although if it ends up being a pay for game I'll stay here in NS.

I like the ideas proposed here. Of these only one would really be doable (searching by population), though you might be able to also get "search by text in name and factbook entry".
The one problem with that is that I think that the serverload from such a request would be quite high due to the database structure. This is something I will float [violet]'s way, however the chances of this happening are close to nil.

One thing I would like to see is something that suggests regions if you spelled something wrong. Like maybe you spelled "The East Pacific" as "The Est Pacific" by mistake.... then it would say something like.. "No region called 'The Est Pacific'. Did you mean 'The East Pacific'?"
That would also work with the nation search too.
