Statistics bug?

Ok, here's the deal: My political freedoms and civil rights have been, respectively, "Below Average" and "Very Good" and they have been that way for over a month regardless of the fact that I have purposely chosen the options that would rise them. What is happening? It is becoming very fustrating.

I think it's just "inertia" it'll take a long time to reverse what you've got set in stone so far.

I don't think it is jsut that. I get two issues a day, and 80% of them deal with civil rights and political freedoms.

I have the same problem trying to fix my imploded economy. You'd think it would be better with the tax rate I'm at (66%, presently).

Lower taxes and every issue in favor of economy must do the trick, I guess.

66%, who could afford anything with that sort of tax. I think Corni advise will at least make a substantial dent in your issue.... or you could aim for 100% tax....

When we get new issues I expect things will change. My statistics have been the same for months.

When I got to a 66% taxation rate, I waited until I got one of the (two?) issues in which you get to slash social / welfare / education spending in favour of tax cuts. Lo and behold, a 20% cut in income tax. Another nation of mine managed an 8% cut overnight. Ideas of what constitutes a reasonable level of taxation vary, but I prefer to make one huge cut when it gets above 65% and allow it to drift up again.

Does any of this affect my economy rating, though? I manage to knock my rate down every once in a while and, as you said, Tactical Grace, let it drift up again, but how closely (if at all) does the tax rate relate to the economy rating?

I actually need to knock my rate down again, because it's at 69%. I tend, though, not to get obvious economical issues that often, and my rate slowly goes up due to unforseen consequences usually relating to a civil rights issue that I wouldn't think would have a tax rate effect. Then I knock it down when I get an obvious economical issue, assuming it isn't going to mess up my civil rights or political freedoms. I'm starting to learn what to do and not to do on some issues (learnt a lot from Should Democracy Be Compulsory when we all had that bug :) ), but seeing that Imploded Economy all the time really frustrates me, especially when I want to pick Answer C, say, in an issue that only has 2 choices, because my Answer C would be good for civil rights and the economy all at once! Well, sometimes.

I guess you gotta love it!

I must say those tax cuts had no effect on my economic stats. My two nations retained their Strong (20% cut) and Powerhouse (8% cut) ratings. But I think it would certainly have an effect on some of your UN rankings.

That's strange :? Lowering taxes should be good for your economy.
