when creating a new nation and checking if a name is available, what exactly does "RESERVED. That name was used by a former nation" mean? Does it mean the name is never available again, or will become available again after a certain time?

Hells if I know.

It will never become available again. Two simple reasons:

1) To avoid the tarnishing of the reputations of departed and respected players, and the confusion that would inevitably result.

2) To protect you from the consequences of picking a name used by a less well-liked player.

3) Incase that player wishes to return and revive that nation.

Thik of it as being similar to those sites where you have to specify a unique sign-in name when you register for whatever-it-is that they do. The only difference here is that you're the head of state of your sign-in name rather than a player/shopper/member/etc.

Imagine if some poor soul thought "Marathon" would make a good name. *shudders*

I was also thinking of America Inc. Such an unbelievably cool name, and yet perhaps one of the most despised.

Or somebody decided to create a weird name and come up with "Klamath".
(it is not as unlikely as you might think. My younger brother (no longer playing) found that a nation called "Komori", his idea, or so he thought, already exists)

just because some other nations might have had a different view than most doesnt give you the right to slag them in this post
I know, no names in here, but these are ex-nations, so it is probably just about OK.

Actually, "Klamath" is the name of a river in California, so it's a likely choice for a new nation.

Are you sure you spelled the nation's name exactly the same way each time?

And of couse Marathon was a famous battle.

Magic China is a neat name, Ered Luin (one of his puppets) is a country in Middle Earth.

Christofi is a plausible name for a newbie, Satan is almost definitly going to be coveted. Sheol?

Of couse some nations did nothing and died, so if some were freed up.

I'd like to get the names Kurdistan, Alta California, Chechnya, Aceh, and Sabah.
