noob here - so how do you determine your - for example - military strength, equipment, etc. Is this all just RPG bluster, or is there some formula to it that I am missing. Links to noob threads welcome.

It's all just RPG bluster. Though you're RPG should relfect the description of your nation as much as possible. E.g. if you keep coming in at around the 70,000 mark on the UN list of per capita military spending then don't claim to have a big army (or claim away but just accept they're all armed with pointy sticks).

Most of it is RP but there are 'formulas' which you can use to determine army size etc as part of the RP.
