Can a nation be destroyed?

Is it possible for a nation to be destroyed. I have particularly bad ratings - will my nation collapse if the ratings continue to drop?

There are only two ways to 'destroy' a nation (make it an ex-Nation)
1) Leave it idle for 21+ days.
2) Make the mods that angry! :shock:
There is no danger of collapse from poor economic/social/political ratings.

Actually it can be as fun trying to get low ratings as it is to get high ratings.

Exactly. Simple (and difficult) questions regarding game procedure belong in Technical. It exists for that very purpose.

To answer the question, a nation can only be destroyed if no-one logs in for 28 days, or 60 days if it has been placed in holiday mode. Game Moderators also have the power to delete nations for particularly severe offenses. These things are however dealt with in the NationStates FAQ (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=faq).
