IP bans
Two questions concerning IP bans:
1) What does it do to the player IP banned? I heard he cannot create any more nation. If he has puppets can he still log in?
2) If the user uses a proxy, can he pass over the IP ban?

1) IP ban is at the player level. That person is no longer permitted access to this website.
2) Theoretically, however it is a federal crime to do so, and the FBI has been contacted in the past.

Actually the FBI don't care where you live :P
They might not care, but the government of the user's country might if the FBI tried to exert jurisdiction over its citizens/subjects. Contrary to the probably belief of many Americans, you don't quite rule the world yet

What does that mean?
It means you can connect to NationStates from another location, with another IP number. I sometimes do that when I have been kicked out of a phpBB forum, going through Russia to post 8)
Just to clarify: I have no intention to use IP proxy software (I don't know how), I was just interested.

Using a proxy to access NS is not illegal. Continuing to use it after being informed that you are not permitted to is.

i find it EXTREMELY amusing that free poland makes an inquiry into what happens when someone is IP banned, after we in europe requested a nation suspected of being a puppet of his be ip banned.... :lol:
