Spyware

I'm wondering if anyone is aware of any spyware infection in NS, and also if anyone has any recommendations on protecting and cleaning up spyware in general?

There is no infection, and really no way for one to happen.

that is good to hear, I would guess any spyware infection would be locally on the individual users computer,

Someone in another thread mentioned Trojan problems. Odd two people posting about actual bugs, both which I doubt could affect Nation States (not the game, the e-mails for UN membership might could be corrupted, I dunno).

Perhaps this is because it is stated that a "bug" deleted a player that people are afraid of this.

I use Adaware and Spybot.

That's a good combo. I'd do that, but I'm too lazy to d/l Spybot, heh.

I use spybot....there is a cookie that comes up flagged when you run this...but all it has to do with is the autologin.

No big deal.

Cogitation

For those who are using Internet Explorer on Windows, go to the Tools menu, select Internet Options, click on the Privacy tab. In this dialog box, you can decide whether to block or allow cookies. There should be something that says "To override cookie handling for individual website, click the Edit button."

Click the edit button, type nationstates.net, and click "Allow". This will allow you to get cookies from NationStates.net even if you chosen to block cookies from everywhere else on the internet.

I, personally, have chosen to block cookies from all sites except for the websites I've designated by using the "Edit" button.

I hope this helps.

I use Mozilla and have pretty much done the same thing as Cog, and have disabled cookies from all sites I don't know and trust.

Woah, protect your computer? Why bother? Anyone who wants to get in can anyways. I leave the door open..........endless uplaod/download. Netsurfing like I have a deathwish. Yeah, I'm suprised that I don't suffer an infection/hack/whatever every 5 minutes. Guess I'm lucky, or just running the Firewall of the Gods

Well, you do what you think is safe. I know against what and why I'm protecting myself :P
