XML Feeds for Regional Message Boards?

Howdy!

I just found the RSS feed for the NationStates News page. I'm a LiveJournal.com user, and I immediately added the NationStates feed to my "friends page". I'm wondering if there is any way to get a feed of my regional message board? I'd like to have that added to my friends list, also. I've hunted around the site and forum, and can't find any information about this, and I'm afraid I don't know enough about XML to figure it out for myself. If someone could answer this for me, I'd ship 'em a ton of Java Scotia's best blends out of gratitude. ;)

I don't know if you can get the message board or not, but maybe you can do something with the basic regional data.

Welcome to the glowing (and mispelled) region of A New Begining, a bastion of communication, competition, and cooperation. We welcome new nations with open arms, and invite them to join our lovely region! We encourage all members to join and be active on our bulletin board (http://com2.akheva.com/banewbegining) and check out our new website.

Ah the irony... 8)

Congratulations! You are the first person to notice that! I did that a few months ago and have been waiting ever since to see if anyone would notice or mention it. *LMAO*

Hmm... it wouldn't be simple to add an RSS feed for regional bulletin boards. They could be added to the XML regiondata output, as The Cold Spring says... but that's not going to be useful all by itself.

I'm sure I'm not the only NationStates addict on LiveJournal who would put an RSS feed of their board to use. If it's going to be a lot of effort, maybe it should be considered as a possible feature of NationStates2?

NuMetal, you'll probably need to find a host that charges you if you want to use PHP. I'm actually using one that only costs me 1.25GBP/month for 1Gb of bandwith at the moment (yes I know people have reservations about cheap hosting but they offer more expensive packages and I've had no problems. I've also tried a few free hosts, and they have been, without exception, unreliable and frustrating). Feel free to have a look at the Celdonia website (http://www.redfrenzy.com/index.html) (which is driven by PHP and MySQL) to see what I've been up to (none of it's hard to do). If you want more details just TG me.

Incidentally, Winnipegs script works reall well if you don't want to work with XML parsers and the like, so it's probably worth your while using that.

Winnipeg - hope you don't mind, but I'm using an amended version of your script myself. I should probably put a credit on the webpage (which I think I will).

Wow,your page is really cool,I think I probably will get a paid host at some point, and put all my stuff on there, but I'm only 15 and I don't have a job at the moment so I can't really do much about it,however this Summer I'm planning on getting a job and then I may do this and possibly pay for ad-removal on my regional forum as well,(I guess I could just host my own if I have the space actually) anyways how much is 1.25GBP in United States dollars?

Thanks for the compliment.

1.25GBP is about 2 USD (it's about 1.6 dollars to the pound at the moment).

Its not a problem...its what I posted it here for :)
Amazingly that script was my first time playing with an XML Feed for anything so the fact that the script worked so well has definently boosted my Confiedence in php/MySQL.
