Another crash :(

A power outage in San Francisco (plus some pathetic USP action from our host) took down the NationStates server, and once again it failed to reboot correctly. This meant it sat there, throwing up crazy errors about cookies to everyone who visited, until I came back from a weekend away and noticed I had about a 1,000 new e-mails. At first I thought maybe my novels had just become that popular, but sadly, no.

Anyway: we are back on the air! Sorry for the inconvenience.

Lol. Damn 1,000 emails. Don't feel bad, I've gotten half of my class to read Jennifer Government and the teach is thinking about making it our first quarter novel. Maybe Syrup for second..

Everyone praise Max Barry! He is a good man.

I just got Jennifer government. Its getting pretty good.

One of the e-mails was from me . . .

But anyway, you can tell when it's about to happen, because the server says "Cannot Be Displaid" a lot.

I was afraid it had something to do with my computer, except this was the only site I couldn't use. I was pretty bummed about it all weekend!

It appears that he did. As you could still look at nations and regions while the system was down, I (along with some others) noticed last night that Francos was no longer alive. It appears the Mods were somehow active durring the down time.

"A blessing, a blessing from the Lord!"
"Mod be praised!"

That was terrible. It just so happens that this crash coincided with my ISP going insane and shutting things down at random. I was sure that my computer re-conctracted some virus. Probably did, actually.

But on a happy note, I can say "I was there during the NationStates Blackout of 9/5/03." One day I will tell my grandchildren about it. It will become family lore and I will be elevated to the status of pseudo-deity.

Lol, Max just forgot the "ON" switch after the power shortage :P Big Deal!

Yes, it was a big deal! NS is all that keeps me sane at work! All I had was eBay, and I ended up buying all kinds of sh*t that I don't need...

I finally did some work on my website, so some good came from it. And I renewed some social contacts :)

I suppose it did some good for me... never done so much piano practice!

Actually composed a piece that changes from 9/4 to 17/16 to 15/16 to 2/4 to 3/4 then back to 17/16 and then ends in 15/16 all the hile changing keys alternatively from C Major to G major back to C major to A major to Bb Major to B major C major again and then to Db Major and then back into C. Actually, all those not musically literate won't have a clue what I'm on about but hey... the piece is very good for developing those vital rhythm-changing skills... I'm rambling now someone stop me!

Internet Explorer is letting me log in again, but Opera still gives the "Your browser is refusing to accept cookies" error. Perhaps now would be a good time to switch to Firebird. I really don't want to maintain my forty nations without a password-managing system....http://www.sc3000.com/forums/images/face5.GIF

I dunno where opera keeps it's cookies. Try deleting all. See whatever you disabled cookies.

Okay, stop! I haven't got a clue what you're on about!........impressive though. I was convinced I'd been deleted. I found a link to enable me to send an E for help, but no reply, presumably 'cos NS was back and all is explained. It taught me to refrain from getting sucked in for too long, I actually felt withdrawal symptoms. Now all they have to do is speed up the server............

Animalia, why you downloaded Opera?! You were supposed to delete the cookies in the already installed one, not to download a new one... Do you want to reinstall it, or what?

Try "Deleting All Personal Data", it's under File, I think.

I use Opera at home (great browser), and it works fine.

I meant Opera Browser, an Opera file-editing program. Now I'm using Firebird, which isn't as good.... Any way, thanks for the help. http://www.sc3000.com/forums/images/face1.GIF

Thanks, that worked, but I've already transferred everything... hmm.
