A I brought up in another thread (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20635), we also need economic paradigms other then the capitalist and state-socialist ones. Syndacalism and communalism are sorely lacking.

Besides, National Socialist is classier sounding. :wink:I assume you're talking about the National Socialist Party of Germany. The Third Reich is VERY hard to label as a certain type of government. It's a Dictatorship, but also Socialist. I'm basically trying to find a perfect name for the Third Reich to match my SS Nation.

Patently false. The truth is the complete opposite.

Nazi Germany could never be construed as similar to a left-wing socialist nation. The government was strictly right-wing and they had extreme hatred for any sort of socialist.

The use of the term 'socialist' in the party title was merely an attempt to mollify the growing social democratic and communist parties in Germany. The Nazi regime was never socialist, nor would it ever exhibit ANY of the characteristics required to be considered one.

I believe Autonomous Region of would be the best choice (most empirical use), and makes sense, especially for role-players who wish to have an autonomous region striving for independence under their own country.

Other unused empirical types:

(Already mentioned) Federal Republic of, among several are Germany and Yugoslavia.
Bailiwick of (used by Jersey and Guernsey, two dependencies of the UK). I am uncertain how popular this could be.
Union of (Historically, Kalmar, currently, Myanmar and Tanzania).
Democratic Socialist Republic of (Sri Lanka)
People's Democratic Republic of (Laos, Korea, among others)
Federated States of (Micronesia)
Dominion of (New Zealand, Canada)
Confederation of (Switzerland, though actually the Swiss Confederation)
Confederated States of (America)

I do not believe that Confederacy has historically been used (particularly without an Adjective preceding it) excepting to refer directly to the OFFICIALLY named Confederated States of America.

Even the singular ("City State of") would work well.

It had socialist economic policies, but it's extreme nationalism and wiping out of all political opposition was fascist. It's a blend of fascism and socialism. It was a government dictated by industry, not industry dictated by government. The NAZIs were a reactionary group heavily funded by large corperations who feared the rise of socialism midst the economic depression. A classic example of the Corperate Police State.

I hate to limit the freedom of people to name their country whatever they want, but I find some of the more Nazi related suggestions to be inappropriate. (I hope) you're just roleplaying, but is that really what you want people to think about your country?
