International Hockey Tournament Official Invitation
Greetings fellow nations of the world,
It is with great pride that we annouce the creation and organization of a multi-national Ice Hockey tournament, showcasing the best players from within your country and beyond. You, amongst others, have been invited to take part in such an exciting and invigorating contest against your fellow nations on a national scale, facing the best of the best in the world.
This weeklong event will take place in the Falkasian Trediak Arena, a massive ice rink dedicated to hockey and professional ice skating; all located within the heart of downtown Ekaterine. All teams will be lodged in the enormous Kazyenko Independence Tower, which is located directly across from the arena itself, and will be treated as foreign dignitaries with all the available amentities granted upon them.
When the time to play comes, each nation's team will be paired up against another nation's team, and will play following standard NHL Hockey rules. For those leaders interested but unfamiliar with ice hockey, or the rules thereof, a pamphlet has been provided below for your review and discretion.
We look forward to seeing you all soon!

OOC: For this tournament, limited godmodding is allowed. This includes scoring goals, penalties that occur, interceptions, checking, stolen pucks, etc. Anything else is generally not allowed to be godmodded. If you need any clarification on something, feel free to ask.

You know we already have one of these in the form of the Champions' Hockey League, right?

And the Hockey World Cup, for national teams, too.

I know. Just wanted to start my own for fun and amusement. Really just need a hockey fix when the Blackhawks aren't playing.

Oh, wait, is this an NT competition? Oh, I am so down. Yeah, sorry, man, I totally misread that the first time. Just let me know what I gotta do and I'll sign up.

OOC: Happens all the time. I'm running, in essence, a clone of this on II. However, I posted it here as well to garner more support. Just post a team, and we'll get down to playing! I'm not too picky when it comes to signing up for threads.

The last World Cup of Hockey ended not too long ago, so unfortunately you're a little late for that. Just ought to point out that, at least traditionally within the NS sports community, there aren't any limits on 'godmodding' except those set by one's opponents, so it's rarer for a whole tournament to ban it. After all, in sports RPs what's the worst godmodding you could get? A flying saucer entering the arena and deflecting a goal? And if that happens, all that does is open up more RP angles.
Oh, and how do you intend to generate scores?
If you're interested in the World Cup of Hockey, you can see the thread from the most recent one here: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=586736
I would suggest waiting for the next one. It shouldn't be too long, perhaps a month or two at most. Meanwhile, why not take a look at other sports RP tourneys going on? You may want to check out this if you're new to it, though it is slightly outdated - http://www.nswiki.net/index.php?title=Sports_roleplaying

OOC: Thanks, I'll look into it. Just know a few things regarding sports here in NS, but not too much. I'll probably hold off then until the new World Cup, gain some experience, then bump or repost this later on.

How will this take place?

Bolding mine. Looks like it won't, GA.

OOC: I don't know. Perhaps running one's own thread would allow little fall-out for mistakes, and allow one to integrate himself into NS Sports.

Really just as any other RP would. You make a post, with me responding. For now, if you'd like, we could do a 1 on 1 contest between you and me to get this down. I normally RP on II, and this is my second or third time venturing onto NationStates.

I'm not sure you've grasped quite what is generally recognised as 'Sports RP' when it comes to Nationstates forum. I heartily recommend the Sports Roleplaying (http://www.nswiki.net/index.php?title=Sports_roleplaying) article on NSwiki that Kel already linked to, as well as the Scorinate (http://www.nswiki.net/index.php?title=Scorinate) and Godmode in sports RP (http://www.nswiki.net/index.php?title=Godmodding#Godmode_in_sports_roleplaying) articles that link from it.
Sports roleplaying on II, if it exists at all, is most likely far less organised. Or less anal, for want of a better word.

Well this is a sports tournament. How is there a fair way to settle things in a fair or realistic manner? I could just simply post that I scored 10 times in every post.

OOC: Thanks for the links. Let me take a look at those.
