0950 Sol System:
The Odyssey Dropped out of inter-phased warp just outside the system in the endless fields of rock and ice, The medium sized four hundred and forty two meter ship rumbled towards the system at high speed its form was silhouetted against the endless sea of stars in space, it came upon the outer rocky planetoid of pluto rather quickly. The planet over showed the ship as it passed it, the Odyssey banked to the side whizzing past the planet a stream of white hot particles flying from its two nacelles, Neptune was just a few AU away.

On the bridge of the ship Captain Alexei Houghs looked through the view screen, his blue eyes locked on the passing icy rocky planetoid, he sank back in to his chair with a gentle sigh escaping is mouth, his uniform was well pressed and ironed, he him self was an older man with grey hair and a toned face showing his age, while he wasn’t frail he was thin. He folded both his white wrinkled hands upon his lap watching the viewer as Neptune came up, a soft smile coming across his pale face, as his eyes looked upon the blue wondrous gas giant. It wasn’t their destination how ever, the ship was on its way to Jupiter, Its mission to scout out Ganymede for colonization. In fact several ships where waiting just out side sol for confirmation on colonizing that moon.

The ship continued along its trek, the soft yellow dim light of sol glinting upon its white hull as it left behind the blue giant of Neptune. The ship was composed of a saucer section primary hull and a secondary hull, its form was sleek and smooth, the symbols on the top of the saucer section read:

USS Odyssey, MCC-1813.

Alexei and yawned a bit, his eyes wandering over to the ships avatar who was in her holographic form and just standing besides him, he shook his head a bit, he still after all these years couldn’t get used to these computers having such forms, thin, smooth blonde hair, blue eyes and a federation uniform. He shifted his gaze to his executive officer who was busy taping on a holographic console to the side of him. He spoke out softly and in a friendly tone.

“Heh, so far so good Nick, any thing on long range sensors?”

Nicolas Birmingham was the ships first officer, he usually handled most of the long range sensor reports along with the rest of the bridge crew. He shifted over responding to Alexei.

“Nothing but a few border markers, We should stay clear of Io and Europa, it seems Ganymede looks like its free, so far scans see nothing on it.”



Alexei smiled and stiffed up as the ship started to approach the Jovian system , his eyes widened as he saw the massive form of Jupiter dwarf every thing else around it, and then there was Ganymede, the view screen changed, Alexei and the crew where awe stricken, their eyes focused on a massive moon that was dwarfed and silhouetted against the form of Jupiter Like a slave shadowed by its master.

Behind the Odyssey four massive long freighters jumped out from inter-phased warp drive, their massive forms while seemingly intimidated where still just harmless an unarmed. They flanked the galaxy class ship on both sides.


Alexei spoke out as he stood up from the command chair his eyes focusing outside on the scene of federation ships and the moon it self.

“I want constant sensor sweeps of Ganymede second by second, make sure nothing is there, also deploy a maker, this is now federation territory”

The ship came to a halt, the four freighters going in to orbit, streams of particles streaming from their engines. This was the start of a new chapter the first major moon colonized in sol after a century of isolation from the place.


The plan was simple:

Stage one:
Establish preliminary pre fab outposts on the surface
Infrastructure for permeant housing and habitability
Basic Orbital infrastructure
Basic Industrial Structures
Establish Ties with the local powers and local entities.

Stage Two:
Build advanced planetary Infrastructure
Diplomatic and trade centers
Increase Industrial capacity
Begin laying the ground work for tera-forming the moon
Construct orbital ship yards.

Stage three:
Construct orbital Infrastructure to build focusing mirrors
Lay the ground work for advanced tera-forming
Build genesis reactors and a genesis nexus

OOC: Are there any other places avaliable in the system? I am looking for colony worlds to, if thats acceptable?

There was a longstanding bad history between The Fedral Union and many nations in Sol. So it should come as no surprise when Dominion ships picked up what were still listed as 'enemies' on their scans.

Largentians and their governments can all be classified as "reserved." Throughout their history they have observed quite a bit. They have amassed impressive dossiers on hundreds if not thousands of nations; however they have limited their interactions to polite diplomatic exchanges and intergalactic trade that higher powers have deemed profitable. Perhaps all that is the reason that the Federal Republic is also quite suspicious.

When the unidentified ships came barging into an historically volatile region of Sol, despite the fact that the system had become quite pacified in recent years, the Largentian port authorities on the three smaller moons of Elara, Himalia, and Lysithea, checked to see if their arrival had been announced or expected by anyone in the area. Of course it had not. It use to be common place for intergalactic peoples to drop into the system and send out a probe, only to find that life in fact existed in the area and then they would depart. Still, it had been a while and no one wanted to take chances.

Himalia was a moon used primarily as a docking station for passing ships and contained several mining sites. Lysithea was the FedRep's military installation in the region, although that was still a well-guarded secret. Elara was mostly offices and two labs, the homes for all government employees in the region could be found there.

The Largentian Jovian Council decided it best to play it safe and treat the new comers as a threat. Several medium sized war ships were diverted from trade routes near Neptune to just outside the Jovian System. The following message was sent to the foreign ships:


Attention

This is the Largentian Jovian Council. State your purposes and halt your four freighters until your presence can be deemed "friendly."

By the time the ships got there, the colony on the moon had already been established, ships from federation worlds where traveling to and fro the moon with out impediment. The sudden appearance of dominion and Largant, ships alarmed the local administration of the small start up colony. Prefabbed structures where already on the surface, not many people lived there but it was some thing, the beacon had been transmitting for all these months as the colony started to take shape, a modular docking port orbiting the colony with a space elevator was the only thing in orbit besides eight defense ships.

The Defense ships had responded forming up in a -standard defensive formation- around the moon. The Odyssey was still in the area and responded. Several Frigates, Light cruisers , and destroyer’s made up the fleet, it was centered and commanded around one of the new state of the art Peace Keeper Assault carriers.


The comms officer held out his right hand, two fingers up to signal he was receiving messages. Huoghs immediately span round and sat back in his chair, with the touch of a few buttons the two messages and any available information about them was displayed on its' screen.

Looking up he said “ I think it best if we made the situation clear to one of the more reasonable powers in the area first. I was briefed that some of the locals had contact with the old government out of Terran Prime, we should tread carefully re-establishing contact after so long, they could well not be aware of the regime change. Send out the standard info, ship numbers, port of origin, destination etc.”

He leaned back a little, sighing slightly and rubbing the corner of his jaw “As for Largant, and Nathicana halt the trade convoy moving supplies to the colony and put out this first to the former power”.


“Councilors, this is Captain Koughs of the USS Odyssesy, escort to the four Federal ships. Several months ago, as I am sure you are aware, my government placed a beacon orbiting Ganymede informing all of our intention to establish a small colony upon it, we have already established a start up colony. And we can assure you that we are here to fulfill the intention of building a full time one, and will send over the cargo manifests to all the ships to assuage any suspicion of ulterior motive. Your caution in such matters is of course commendable, I am happy to take any steps to secure your confidence in this matter. I can only hope that the relationship between our two great nations will be one of peace, prosperity and enlightenment. We Invite you to a diplomatic meeting on the UFS Peace Keeper if you accept we can resolve this with out incident, You seem not to be aware of many changes that had happened whilst we weren’t in contact.”

ooc: Nice try - but no deal. Trying to go back and say you'd already done something you hadn't rp'd out prior to responses is utter crap, and you know it. All due to you being upset that on irc you didn't get the responses you wanted. You can rp this out reasonably, or I suppose we can do it your way, and just glass the lot of you - something I'm sure you realize the longstanding accepted forces in the area are more than capable of doing without batting an eye, or suffering any fear of retribution from you. Or better, you can take your 'Ganymede' to another point in reality where none of us have to deal with you, and can just ignore anything you do here, due to your ignorant style of rp. Your choice.

OOC: I hate to do this here, but Rob I have to agree with Nathicana on this one.

Sure, you've had a beacon by your claim for sometime, that does not change the fact that you are just now arriving and the locals are just now responding, this is entirely their right.

Though I see you have edited what I gave you to form the latter part of your post it clearly doesnt work. Why is the captain talking about "escort to the four Federal ships." if you have already arrived and set up ? And how do you justify speeding up time in such a manner ?

Please, be reasonable here, you can never expect people to stop being leery about your presence if you're going to try and pull stunts like this. How can you expect to negotiate with your neighbours to assuage their natural worries and accept the right to build if you skip straight ahead to having finished building. And what possible course of action do you leave open to them now ? I really don't want to see this end in gunfire, re-edit the post and I'm sure everyone will be prepared to ignore this little slip.

((ooc: Despite the fact that this post has been here for a month and when I mentioned it on IRC you just now to rush to try to stop me leaves a lot of questions raised. Ie: why now? Why not when I posted it? and since this thing has been sitting here for a month and no one was rping it I've decided to use a bit of fluid time. icly no one posted claims so I assume it was free. Unlike a-lot of people I don't take ooc info and put it ic. If you want to ignore it fine its up to you, but honestly you could just work some thing out in character with me instead of whining about it ooc trying to push your will on me. So what I didn't write a few fictional words on a fictional thread to denote I had landed? so what It was the start of it, and it can be assumed I had colonized it. I am not out of my element here. The fact is this is another example of differing styles that I'm willing to adapt to. In the end I'm here to write not play ooc politics on an ic field. I mean you could always , and here comes a dozy, open diplomacy with me! *faints*. Seriously, try to rp instead of blasting me for some oh so serious ooc info that I don't know ic.))

ooc: You just did take ooc and make an ic issue out of it. Why didn't anyone pay attention? Gee - was there anything in the title about the Jovian system, or Ganymede? Why no, no there was not. How very ... convenient of you. So until you brought up trying to sneak this into our back yard, knowing full well how past issues very MUCH ic in nature have gone down on account of your very MUCH ic actions ... yeah. I posted ic. There is no way in hell you have a full civilization all set up between the 'here's the probe' post and 'oh whups - how dare you people show up now, I already have everything built' post.

You deal. We've tried diplomacy in the past - and what do you do? Try to blow up Mars. If this is more of what we can expect, I can say right here, right now - gtfo. And stay there. Because this crap simply does not fly, and this is no way to try and get us to rp with you.

And while you're at it, get the hell off my station - you never requested clearance to land there. If you don't, I'll have the post removed myself.
