Hello and welcome, delegates of the world's great nations. We, the Norwellian people, a collective of workers dedicated to finding Another Way, giving of our hands and our minds to build a nation of pure liberty tempered by the utmost concern for social justice, proudly present the preeminent symbol of our labor, our new national flag:

Having been submitted by the Workers' Committee to Design the National Flag, approved by the people through the Norwellian system of direct democracy, this flag symbolizes the great nation we hope to build:

Red stands for the courage to change the world.

Orange, the color of the horizon, represents the vision of all that is possible.

Yellow represents the fire under our feet, the urgency with which we strive to create Another Way.

Green represents growth; the challenge to our collective to never stop growing, in every dimension, including the growing understanding of the aims of cooperation.

Sky blue represents the limitless sky, our responsibility to provide education and help to all who need it and to strive toward global peace.

Dark blue suggests pessimism, reminding us of the perils of failure, as burned into the national memory by the horrors of civil war.

Violet represents the warmth, beauty and friendship of our collective.

Our name sits below the colors of the collective to remind us that our national identity is of far less importance than the values perpetuated by the sum of our cooperative efforts as workers.

The housecat, Norwellia's national animal, represents an individual worker looking ahead to contemplate Another Way. As the housecat always plans her next move with calculating precision and executes it with fierce vitality, each worker anticipates the needs of the collective and fulfills them to the best of her ability. The cat is transparent to remind us that each individual worker is defined by the work of the collective, at the same time as the collective is shaped after the image of each individual worker.

With the sincerest wishes of fortune and wisdom,
Abigail Murphy, Minister of Foreign Affairs
