World Cup 46 Introduction:

For more information on the World Cup, its History, how it works, who runs it, and the competitions related to it, check out the World Cup Wiki Site (http://nswiki.net/index.php?title=World_Cup).

The NSWC is a tournament for any NS nation who signs up. This World Cup is about to start its 46th competition, and your nation can take part! Every team is given a rank based on their performances in previous Cups, and the starting rank is roughly 200 (the current "best team in the world" is Valanora, with a rank of 1) See: KPB Rankings (http://nswiki.net/index.php?title=KPB_ranking_system)

Scores are generated using either a Java program or through various or MS Excel sheet 'scorinators' which use random numbers, weighted by ranking and RP bonus to produce the scores.

It is encouraged for Nations to RP - roleplay - their matches, team rosters, players and such. Good RPs will help raise your chance of winning (especially in the Baptism of Fire). Please note: A lot of RPs does not guarantee goals or wins, but your chances are improved of this happening. i.e. Two debutant, non-ranked, nations play each other. One has RP'd a few times, the other has not. The nation who has participated should have the better probability of victory, but still has a chance of a Win, Loss or Draw.

RPs can be Team Roster announcements, fan comments, press conferences, media stories, anything about the game, as long as you've kept to the score as posted or TGd to you by the host/scorer.

Nope. The ancestors of the Ursine community here were refugees from Human pressure who (unlike a number of other such groups) never found their way to Bears Armed in the first place... and there were enough of them that they aren't significantly inbred, either.
The opening and development of contacts between these two nations will (presuming that I can find enough to say) be a major part of my RP during the rest of WC45 & on into WC46.

After much deliberation, Ad’ihan will return for World Cup 46. Also registering a preliminary interest in cohosting the cup (already have a cohost in mind, he'll make the announcement at a later stage).

Only 8 BoF signups? That's odd, isn't it? If we double in size for the Cup itself, which would be about right considering previous NSWC history, we'd be paced for just 16 BoF contestants. Is it normally this slow? Does it just pick up later as more noobs hear about it?

The list on the first page hasn’t been fully updated yet. I think (being too lazy to click back a couple of pages and count and all) BoF sign-ups are up to 12 now. And with the world cup proper only one match old and the CoH yet to start there’s still plenty of time for the stragglers to arrive.

And the BoF I competed in many moons ago had a measly 9 participants, so could be worse. :)

No offence, but perhaps it's better to leave the updating till when the WCC president finds the time to do so. For example, it would not be accurate to list Ad’ihan/Kelssek under World Cup hosting bids (1) - at least without a caveat. I don't believe we ever announced it yet (99.9% of confirmed bids will have a bid thread ready). A provisional bid is exactly that. It's not finalised yet.

Well, yeah, that's why I called it an unofficial update. I wanted to see some numbers, and other people probably did too, so I thought I'd toss out a quick count for our edification. I mean, otherwise it'd be like saying no newspaper's sports section could estimate the world rankings, because they might get it wrong. If they do, no biggie.

Technical question for those who might know: Will I be able to have friendlies before the BoF to influence my rank, or will that have to wait until pre-qualifying? Thanks in advance.

Rank = past three WC cycles of BoF, WC and CoH. Friendlies, like in the WCoH (or a majority of sports on NS), don't count.

But I'll leave this to the host(s) - if they think that Landau Institute's participation in the BoF wouldn't be really fair, they can deny this BoF sign-up (of course, Landau Institute would be still signed-up for the WC).

It is totally down to host's prerogative on this issue. Personally I'd say that as long as the KPB rank is zero and the nation hasn't played in the BoF before, then that's fine.

Taeshan is right in saying puppets are only allowed after a team has completed one full WC cycle (and even then limited to one). However, if you intend to enter just one team, as a combined entity from different nations, that will be fine.
