Scorinator to be used:
Qazox' own Oxen Cup scorinator, which has been used in 9 Oxen Cups. The scorinator uses a formula that usually factors in KPB rank, but can be modified for the BoF. The main component of the formula to be used will be based on the style modifiers of the two teams and RP points accrued. A sample simulation will be given, on request, for any number of teams, and any style modifier between -3 and +3.
Previous hosting experience:
As mentioned above, Qazox has hosted 9 editions of a non-KPB cup, the Oxen Cup, will minimal complants about the scorination of the events. Qazox has also hosted 3 editions of the World Baseball Classic (using a similar scorinator to the one to be used in the BoF), a World Cup of Hockey, a World Bowl, two separate Sports Festivals, which were basically mini-Olympics; and the final Women's World Cup. While this would be Qazox' first offical hosting duty involving a BoF, CoH or World Cup-type event, the amount of previous experience hosting similarly large events would be a benefit.
RP bonus:
In the BoF, since all competiting nations have no KPB ranking, RP judging is the main factor in determining the amount of RP bonus applied to each team involved. Qazox will rate each and every RP, each day, by each team as a separate applied bonus to the scorinator formula, with 'Quality' RPing receiving a greater bonus than poor RPing or no RPing at all. There also will be a culmulative RP bonus that factors in the involvement of each team in RPing the BoF. The exact figures cannot be revealed until after the BoF itself, as pre-knowledge might bias the RPing to ensure a greater chance of success. Both quantity and quality will be used, but Quality will have a greater factor overall in the scorination.
Qualifying Structure:
Depending on the final number of sign-ups for the BoF, (currently: 8, no including the most recent signups. The groups will be split as evently as possible (hoping for either 2 groups of at least 6 teams or 3 groups of at least 5 teams) and compete in a single-round robin. The top 8 teams, regardless of the final number fo signups or groupings; will advance to a single-elimination knock-out round to determine the overall BoF Champions. Efforts will be made to avoid any re-matches from the preliminary stage in the 1st round of the elimination rounds.
If the number of BoF eligible teams remains what it currently is: (8 confirmed, 3 unconfirmed and possibly 2 more for a total of 14 teams), then there will be 2 groups of 7 teams, in a single-round robin with the top 4 teams from each group advancing to the knockout rounds.
If you have any further questions, please post them in this thread.
