Domestic Baseball Leagues Thread
There's one for Hockey, Soccer/football, Football/Gridion and maybe one for Basketball, so why not for your Domestic Baseball Leagues.
If you have a league, feel free to post your latest season's results here to share with the world!
After the successes of the national Baseball teams in the World Baseball Classic, the National Qazox Baseball Federation (NQBF) decided to offically open up sponsorship for a National Baseball League in Qazox. While such a plan had previously failed in the late 1890's, before the WBC was founded, the NQBF beleives that such a league could be successful. The new league, an offical name has not yet been decided upon, will face stiff challenges from the NEWQFL, the QHL and the QAG. The NEWQFL would be the primary direct competition for sports fans Zaqs, as both leagues would compete in the spring and summer.
The NQBF is hopeful for 10 teams to begin play by 1950, which would be the earliest such a league would be able to start play. No franchises or franchise locations have been named as of yet, but expect Qazox City, Fromburg, SaxerVilla and Cuidad de Iguana to have teams, as those cities have a large Hispanic-Qazoxian population, and Baseball is the 2nd most popular sport in those cultures.

We would first like to request that whatever international governing body of the beloved sport of baseball recognize the Reich's premier domestic Major League Baseball Federation (http://www.nswiki.net/index.php?title=Baseball_in_Tocrowkia) as...well, a "recognized" official league.
the TBL(and if you cant guess Taeshan Baseball League) would like to welcome the Qazian Leagues to the world of pro league baseball. Baseball is the number two sport in Taeshan behind Baseball, and thus have a long history of in the sport as pros. There have been 8 seasons since the league started, and here are the champions.

Johnny Stryker wins TL MVP Award with historical season
http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/9289/scc3uq2fz9.gif (http://imageshack.us)
Johnny Stryker, pictured above, was announced today has the Tocrowkian League MVP
The city of Ancheron knows his name. The Tocrowkian Reich knows his name, and after the latest WBC, the 9th edition of the vent, the world knows his name. At the conclusion of the 2008 Major League Baseball Federation, 1st Baseman Johnny Stryker recorded his first ever MVP award for his amazing 2008 season, during which he broke the single season home-run record previously held by A.J. Solo, which he sat in 1964 with his 61st homerun, finishing the season with 63 of them. Stryker had 70 in 2008. Here are his 2008 stats:
BA: .342
RBI: 172
HR: 70
SLG: .824
SB: 30
And if you think he slouched anywhere, think again. Defensively, the 1st baseman finished with a 994. fielding percentage. Some bad news, too. Johnny's only 23 years old, and only three years into his career. He will be terrorizing pitchers, both at home and abroad in the WBC for quite some time to come. As one of the games most prolific five tool players, as well as an emerging leader in the clubhouse, some have taken to calling him "The Natural". Jill Haviland ShortStop for the Nouva York Valkyries, and Stryker's team mate on the WBC squad had this to say.
"He deserves it. He's an amazing kid, and he has such a natural talent for this game. It's like he was born to play it. Every second he's on the field, he's totally zoned in, totally concentrated. He's just so much fun to watch, even as an opponent."
The NQBL (National Qazox BaseBall League) has announced the inaugural 10 franchises to begin play in May of 1950.

With ten teams, the schedule will see each team play the other nine a total of 12 times for a 108 game-schedule. Tentatively, each team will play two 3-game series against each team at home, and two 3-game series on the road. There will be no games on Mondays, as that will be a designated travel day for each team.
Each team will have at mininum either 6 consecutive home games or 6 consecutive road games, though some lee-way will be allowed for intra-city games involving the Qazox City, Fromburg and Rockport franchises.
The first games will take place on May 2, 1950, with the regular season ending (depending on make-up games due to weather), on September 3rd.
The top 4 teams after the 108 game regular season will advance to a 3-tiered playoff system. The 3rd and 4th placed teams will meet in a best 2-of-3 series to be played at a neutral site, with the winner advancing to face the 2nd place team. In the 2nd round, the series will remain a best 2-of-3 series will all 3 games played at the 2nd placed team's stadium. The winner of the 2nd series will then face the 1st placed team in a best 3-of-5 series. The 1st three games will be played at the 1st placed team's stadium, with the final 2 games (if necessary), to be played at the lower-placed team's stadium.
The first round of the playoffs are scheduled to be on September 6th-8th, The 2nd round to take place September 10th-12th, and the championship series to take place September 14th-19th, with the 17th a travel day.
(ooc: Yes it's a wierd system.)

NQBL NEWS
February 19th, 1952:
With the suprising success of the first two seasons of the NQBL, the league has begun to express interest in expanding the league to a total of 12 teams by 1954, and possibly 16 teams by 1960. Interested cities include, Vogg City, Graverville, Pika City and Lake Porter City. A vote of league owners in March will determine if the league will expand. 7 of the 10 owners would have to approve of the measure, along with approval from NQBF, whom, if expansion is approved; would determine the most complete expansion bids.
March 13th, 1952:
In an unanimous vote, the NQBL owners approved of expanding the league to 12 teams in the 1954 season. The early favorites, according to sources within the NQBF are: Lake Porter City and Graverville, as both cities have stadia curently availble, while a new stadium would have to be built in Vogg City and Pika City city officals have recently struck-down a proposal to re-configure Estadia Pika for Baseball. A vote on the expansion teams is expected before the beginning of the 1952 season, scheduled to begin on May 6th.
April 25th, 1952:
The final vote is in and the two newest Franchises in the NQBL, to begin play in 1954 are: the Lake Porter City Hounds and the Graverville Giants. While specifics about each team's home stadia have not yet been released, the NQBL also voted to split the league into 2 divisions of 6 teams each for the 1954 season. The exact divisions have not yet been approved, as there are 3 different schemes to choose from, but by the end of the 1952 season they divisons will be determined and a decision about the scheduling of games, including any changes to the number of games will be made at the same time.
Newmanistan
26-01-2009, 06:09
A major project is currently in the works for me regarding a domestic baseball league in Newmanistan. It will take some time before I am ready to make it public but if anyone is familiar with the game OOTP Baseball (my personal favorite game of all time) it will be based on that. So yes, the games won't be scorinated traditionally, but after months of thinking about customizing a complete Newmanistan league, I am going to roll with it.
I am posting this here as a request to draw foreign players. If there is anyone out there who would wish to play professionally in Newmanistan please provide me their player info. They can be stars or bums, a 40-year old veteran SS who can't land a domestic contract because of his age or an 18-year blue-chip prospect who got in trouble with the law at home. Anything works. If so, provide me an age and their average stats in a season (I.e. .266 BA 15HR, 62 RBI, 33 SB). Foreign players would make this more interesting for me, and maybe even for you!
Again this will be a little bit to set up so if you have any interest you can take your time about it.

This format will be carried over to 1954, when the top 2 teams in each divison will make the playoffs. The 2nd place teams will play at the 1st place team of the other division. (i.e: N2-S1, S2-N1)
As for the scheduling in the 1954 season, the schedule, remained at 108 games with the following format:
vs. Divisional Opponents:
6 home/6 away (12*5=60 games)
vs. Non-Divisional opponents:
4 home/4 away (8*6= 48 games)
108 total games

((OOC: Well, if you'd be interested I can say the MLBF's season ends just as the last couple of months of yours begins. And because he's so dedicated, Johnny Stryker would definitely like jump at the chance to play winter ball in Newmanistan. His stats, through three Major League seasons in Tocrowkia:

Curious, since we are right across the river and I don't have any time to run a league of my own could we have a team, a la the Toronto Blue Jays in the MLB? Also any of my WBC players would be interested in playing.

As long is it is a Western team within your country, I don't have a problem with it. Though they will be expected to cooperate with Newmanistanian rules. (i.e. No auction crap. :p ). If you're going to open up your WBC players, I may just take them all.

Stryker added to the list of available free agents. He should command top dollar. Will update you on who signs him when it occurs.

Three more Tocrowkian players have also applied to play within Newmanistan:
Juli Zeppeda (19 years old, Shortstop. Bats/Throws Right)
Stats: (Through one major league season in Tocrowkia)
Avg: .310
RBI: 78
HR: 24
SB: 36
SLG: .512
Notes: A second-round draft pick by the perennial cellar-dwellar, the Verege Daemons. Has expressed interest in playing abroad due to a troubled family life in Tocrowkia
Conrad Dystra (35 Years old, Left Fielder. Bats/Throws right)
Stats: (Through fifteen major league seasons in Tocrowkia)
Avg: .316
RBI: 1,723
HR: 531
SB: 32

Notes: Talented, but somewhat temperamental. Imagine Manny Ramirez. Though he's put up all of fame numbers and will get in on the first ballot, no one wants to put up with his crap in Tocrowkia anymore.
Motti Levin (21 years old, Pitcher. Bats/Throws left)
Stats: (Through 1 1/2 major league seasons in Tocrowkia)
Win-Loss: 24-15
ERA: 3.45
Strikeouts: 189
Notes: Young, talented pitcher that fears spending the golden years of his career in the minors, so he's elected to play in Newmanistan if at all possible.

((OOC:Okay...so I'm finally going to get around to posting my own league.))
The Major League Baseball Federation is the highest possible level of play in the Tocrowkian Reich. Nick names include "The Show", "The Bigs", and "The Majors" the MLBF was founded in 1869. As expected from such a long-established organization, it has a long and proud tradition and a fanatical following - baseball is the most popular sport in the Tocrowkian Reich, drawing billions of spectators annually.
The MLBF operates a 162 game season. At the conclusion of each season, a four seed tournament is played. Three division winners, plus one "Wild card" from each league enter the play-offs. The first round, dubbed the division series is a best 3-of-5. The next round named the league championship is a best 4-of-7. And finally the Imperial Series is a best 4-of-7, played between the two leagues pennant winners.
Reich League
Considered the "Senior Circuit", The Reich league consists of 14 teams. Over the years, many of the former franchises have been either relocated or contracted. Only 10 of the charter teams remain, with the other five being expansion and relocated titles. Of these 5 charter franchises, only four remain. The Daemons relocated from it's original city in McKinley to Verege, and the Hornets jumped ship to the Tocrowkian League. Two expansion teams, one in Valentin and the other in Nuova Yourk brought the number to 14 teams in 1958. Of the 105 Imperial Series played between the present date and the founding of MLBF, the Reich League has won 42. The Reich League is regarded as a more "small ball" type of league, as it leads the Tocrowkian League in stolen bases, double plays, sacrifices and pitching stats
Reich League West:
Strudleheim Warriors
Ranulf Knights
Signus Titans
Kharazuma Lakers
Reich League Central:
Ancheron Archers
Strunburg Serpents

Reich League East:

Fischer Intruders
Paxis Bengals
Arnosa Marlins
Sandrana Maniacs
Tocrowkian League
The "Junior Circuit", the Tocrowkian League consists of 16 teams. All ten of it's charter franchises remain active to this date. The Tocrowkian League also expanded MLBF with five franchises the most recent of which took place with the founding of the Helldayne Inquisitors in 1997. It also welcomed the Hornets when they opted to change leagues. Taking into account not only Imperial Series performance, but the annual All-Star game the Tocrowkian League is the stronger of the two leagues, especially offensively. The TL frequently tops the RL in stats such as collective homeruns, runs scored, batting average and runs driven in. Of the 105 Imperial Series played in MLBF history, the Tocrowkian League has won 63.

The QBL
In 1903, Qazox had its first Baseball League, the QBL. The results of this league were found after an extensive research project by NQBL historians. The league lasted only one season, and featured 8 teams. The league had a 126 game season. The Bruxen Bulls, later a QAG team nick-name as was the SaxerVilla Saints; won the only title sweeping the Lake Porter City Lakers in the championship 3-0. The league folded after one season due to financial concerns as 7 of the 8 teams lost money one the season, (the exception being the only champions, the Bruxen Bulls). There are no surviving records of statistics of the league, other than a handful of box scores from the Cuidad de Iguana Monde newspaper which contained the final league standings and the results of the OX Series, the QBL's name for their championship series. While the QBL failed spectactularly, it must have sparked enough interest in baseball for Qazox to join and host the first World Baseball Classic, some 35 years later. The NQBL is in debt to the founders of organized Qazoxian baseball, whomever they are.

Since this thread is on the front page, here's an update on the Newmanistanian league.
Set up has been a little more time consuming then I thought (but will be well worth it in the end). My goal is the 15th to have everything done by. This coming weekend I will do more work on it, but probably not a ton as my free time (which I won't have as much of as I might normally on a weekend) for NS will probably involve more of the setting up of the NSCAA tournament and World Cup qualifying.

Ad’ihan DCSA announces baseball league
CITY OF AD’IHAN— The Department of Culture, Sport and the Arts have announced they have agreed a deal with Radio Ad’ihan International to form the first-ever Radio Ad’ihan International Baseball Tournament (or ABT for short), which will be Ad’ihan's full-fledged baseball league.
Although Ad’ihan has two teams in the Liventian-Zwangzugian-Yaforite league LAZY which has yet to get off the ground despite years of planning, the DCSA has announced the formation of a domestic tournament, which will have a total of 20 teams.
There will be two separate conferences, one for Barrier Island and the City of Ad’ihan (designated hitter), and one for Grand Island (pitcher hits), with eight and twelve teams respectively.
The BRICOA conference is split into two divisions of four, with the Barrier Island division comprising Dalinn, Modna South, Mountbatten Junction and Navon Beach. The City of Ad’ihan division comprises of three City of Ad’ihan teams and one from Grand Island, in the form of Dullham.
The Grand Island conference is split into two divisions of six, separating the region into north and south. Altsend, Flitton, Hatton, Oldbridge, Pilminster and Pointe Sud are in the south division, with Airport City, Dz’ai, Kinney Road, Modna Nord, Mont-Pluie and Stanlet in the north.
Four of the twenty teams are subsidiaries of professional football teams in the United Islands League Championship: Dalinn Wanderers, Olympique Protectorat, Pilminster Rovers and CF Mont-Pluie.
Each team will play 60 games in the regular season.

ABT to play consecutive seasons with minimal breaks
CITY OF AD’IHAN— The Radio Ad’ihan International Baseball Tournament has confirmed it will play a second season of professional baseball this year, following the completion of the 60-game regular season in under three months.
ABT commissioner Brent Weaver announced the move during the awards ceremony which saw the pitcher and hitter of the year from each conference awarded their trophies.
When asked why the ABT had decided not to simply increase the number of games in a regular season, Weaver insisted the number of games had to be kept low for the first few seasons simply for logisitical reasons, and said he did not rule out extending the season to 120 games in the future.
Weaver also suggested the possibility of a single league-style conference of 18 teams some time in the future, which could see a points system introduced. However, he added that such a change would not happen until the league was already well-grounded and playing an adequate number of games a season.
The commissioner said the aim was to get Ad’ihan playing year-round baseball and to push the sport into the 'big two' in Ad’ihan. Currently association football and ice hockey dominate the sporting landscape in the island country, with sports like baseball and the local golf tour less well-established.
The move could potentially see three or even four seasons played every calendar year in Ad’ihan. With only two weeks' rest between seasons, there is very little time to prepare for the ABT's second season, which starts next week.

You'd have to, unless you were crazily purist, I guess. Do you use a spreadsheet, Qazox? I always thought that there were just various Works/Excel files floating around...

So...any more specific thoughts on how one changes NSFS to accurately reflect baseball scores? I don't have much experience with it and I'd rather hear some tips from the more experienced scorinators here before I go off half-cocked. I got some great advice on hockey scorinating from Oli and I'm glad I waited until I knew that stuff.

That's a good baseball game/simulator. Also saves you the need for creating player names.

And so, it came to pass, that at long last Vephrall gained a second professional sports league.
Up until now it's been all (association) football, all the time, with the Vephraller Tririsec e Foutbill remaining the nation's only true professional sports league, but that has finally changed as a baseball league comes onto the scene.
Presenting...the equally creatively named Vephraller Tririsec e Besebill!
The inaugural 1769 season will feature a twelve-team league, split into two divisions of six.
Western Division
Flaarickug Falcons
Knolees Knights
Meice Capitals
Netlas Suns
Penuls Pirates
Speilers Sharks
Eastern Division
Gloem Gargoyles
Moje Marauders
Pallona Porcupines
Siellal Snakes
Solonds Stars
Tuffir Tarantulas
The VTB features a 72-game regular season running from June through August. On 21 August, the champions of the Western and Eastern Divisions will meet in the championship series, a best-of-three, to determine the Vephrese champions.
There is also a three-level minor league system. These levels are called, simply enough, from highest to lowest, the B-League, C-League, and D-League. Each of these levels has twelve teams, one affiliated with each top-level team. There is no promotion or relegation in the system.
Oh, and yes, the Collegiate Sporting Alliance is getting in on this too. They'll have a 50-game season featuring the usual 68 teams in the usual six conferences, running from mid-March through mid-May.
Spring training is just around the corner, starting in about three weeks (OOC: Thursday-ish). Until then, here's your first look at the teams:

It's spring training time for the all-new VTB, but we'll come to that in a second.
As mentioned earlier, the Collegiate Sporting Alliance has also started up its baseball competition, and we've just reached the end of the regular season. The six conference champions will advance to the playoffs, as well as the two non-champions with the best records.

Meanwhile, we're about a week into spring training up in the bigs. The Penuls Pirates lead the VTB spring training standings so far at 7-2, while fellow Western Division team Speilers has won just one of its nine games.
Unfortunately, the major news out of spring training is a rather sad item. Tuffir Tarantulas right fielder Taratchy Sarashe ruptured an ulnar collateral ligament while throwing the ball during the team's first game of spring training against the Solonds Stars. Unfortunately for Sarashe, this turned out to be a career-ending injury.
Sarashe, a 25-year-old Speilers native, was a 21st-round pick for Tuffir in the inaugural draft and named the #92 overall VTB prospect. He drew a walk in his only career plate appearance in the Tarantulas' 9-3 spring training win over the Stars before suffering the injury in the fourth inning of that game. Sarashe was released by Tuffir the next day.

The ABT has announced that the two conferences will merge into one for next season, with the 20 teams playing 74 games and a point system coming into play. Three points will be awarded for every win and one for every extra inning loss. The team with the most points will be awarded the league title. There will be no playoffs.
Adrian Marquez and Julio Hernandez have both decided they will not play in the ABT next season, and will instead look overseas for a new team.

The game was played at the home of the Speilers Sharks, with 23,200 spectators in attendance (99.1% of capacity). While the first half was relatively competitive, the game was really broken open by Knolees 2B Tomprism Mocks' two-run homer in the bottom of the 7th that gave the West a 7-1 lead. The Western Division All-Stars went on to take a comfortable 11-2 win.

((Okay, I'm finally getting around to posting some standings for my domestic league. Here are the standings for the 1985 MLBF season, and I'll make my way forward. Maybe when I get more time I'll travel BACK in time and post standings for years prior to 1985.)
1985 Tocrowkian League overview
For the most part, the Tocrowkian League was hardly competitive as Handrinburg won a major-league best 106 games and clinced their division early, with their TL East opponents each a shocking double-digit amount of games behind. The Black Sox also had their division locked up by mid-September, where as the Central Division was by and large the most competitive - mostly due to it's weak nature. The Raiders managed to hold off the hard-charging Macabres to win the division, but the Macabres did manage to seize the wild card.

1985 Reich League overview
While not quite as lopsided as the Tocrowkian league standings at the end of the season, there were still several teams that feel an embarrassing amount of games under .500. That, and the fact no team had nearly as many wins as the Ravens over in the Tocrowkian league made many think that the Reich League was faced with yet another loss in the coming Imperial Series. Little did they know...

(Now, at long last! I wanted this to be a detailed writeup, which is why I took longer with it).
Where are they and how’d they do?
Several international players came to Newmanistan to play professional baseball. Here’s a breakdown of the season in which they had, grouped together by their home nation.
Want to note before someone says, “your SB base numbers are too high”, that in Newmanistan, aggressive base-running is very, very commonplace. Usually have 15-20 players yearly in triple digits with this category. If you remember Ricky Henderson and Vince Coleman, you’ll remember a day when MLB teams weren't wimps to run aggressively, too.
Secristan:
Steve Jamison- The ace of the Millionaires staff signed with Pocono City (4 year deal worth $46 million) after an intense bidding war for his services, something in which Jamison had to enjoy see work in his favor for once. He joined Courtney Lombardi, from our national team, in their rotation and went on to go 18-6 with a 2.47 ERA, striking out 231. He was Pocono City’s #2 pitcher, using him behind Lombardi.
Eric Strassner- Signed with the Daytopia Racers for 3 years at $15 million. Serving as their #2 starter, he had a solid season, going 13-10 with a 3.30 ERA and 150 K’s.
Alan Coldwell- Not a lot of interest was generated, and he settled for a 2 year deal worth $1.3 million. Dover City picked him up, where he was used in their bullpen, not as a starter. He went 4-3 with a 3.62 ERA.
Jim Slattery- Of all the Secristani pitchers which applied, Slattery was second in terns of the interest he generated, and he signed a 5-year deal worth $52 million with Putnam Lake. However, he spent quite a bit of time on the DL, and was only able to pitch 62 innings for the Eagles. He was 3-1 with a 2.90 ERA in that time.
Paul Newkirk- Newkirk was signed by Pocono City, who assigned him to their AAA-affiliate. He spent the entire season in the minors. In AAA, he was a modest 12-8 with a 4.03 ERA.
Francisco Martinez- The closer signed with Tundra Falls for five years at $43 million. He had a big season, with 52 saves and only 4 blown.
Michael McKeon- Signed with Southport for three years at $18.3 million, and was used as their closer. He had 44 saves while playing for a team that won over 100 games.
Chad Jarvis- Signed a three-year deal with Fairfield City, and had a 2.55 ERA in 96 innings of work.
Nicholas Gillette- Signed a four-year deal with South Tier, with injuries limiting him to just 34 innings.
Dominick Peluso- Signed with Olympia and found a nice home there, with a 1.73 ERA in 75 innings of work.
Larry Pritchett- OF - Surprisingly, team’s didn’t throw a lot of money at him, and he had to settle for a two-year deal worth $12 million with Hampton. Teams may have been proven right after his average .256 season with 3 HR’s and 42 RBI’s and 26 SB’s.
Jason Carlin- OF- The only Secristani player who ended up signing with Amherst (the Secristani team we allow in the NPL). Playing at “home”, he hit .314 with 4 HR’s and 70 SB’s.
Tim McMurtry- 3B- Signed a five-year deal worth $58 million with Loudon, and went on to hit .221 with 4 HR’s and 38 RBI’s, making him a target of the boo-birds.
Manny Rodriguez- OF- Manny gave immediate credibility to South Tier, signing a 4-year deal worth $74 million dollars, and lived up to expectations. He hit .328, and delivered 54 HR’s and 146 RBI’s. With national team member Tara Cuyler hitting behind him, pitchers couldn’t simply pitch around him.
John Fusco- 1B- Fusco signed with the Centralia Cougars for 3-years at $42 million, and had a very consistent season. His BA was the most impressive, at .358, which put him in the top five overall in the league, and the best of any non-Newmanistanian. He hit 29 HR’s and drove in 112.
Eddie Forte- SS- Eddie signed a five-year deal worth $30 million to be a teammate of Fusco’s with Centralia, and hit behind his countryman in the lineup. A solid .308 BA with 15 HR’s and 93 RBI’s would be his production.
Mick O’Rourke- 2B- Didn’t see a ton of interest, so he opted for lowly Silver Lake at two years and $7 million. The Marlins were rewarded with a .320 BA and 74 RBI’s. He did not homer.
John Mullins- C- There wasn’t much of a market for the 36-year old catcher, but he did sign on with Tundra Falls, where he played in 73 of 162 games, and hit .260 with 11 HR’s. They’ll take it.

Johnny Stryker- 1B- Teams lined up to bid for Johnny’s services, and the winner would be Dover City, who signed him to a 4-year deal worth $78 million, which was the largest contract that a foreign player would receive. Dover City, who had struggled the last few years was looking for Stryker to carry the team, and he did the best he could, hitting .348 with 50 HR’s and 133 RBI’s, and even added in 41 SB’s.
Juli Zeppeda- SS- Signed a three-year deal worth $15 million with South Charlotte, but started the season in AAA ball, likely due to his age. Was promoted in mid-May and never saw the minors again, hitting .293 with 15 HR’s and 60 RBI’s after his promotion. The best may be yet to come for him.
Conrad Dystra- OF- The temperamental OF’er had no problems getting offers from Newmanistanian clubs, and came close to joining Manny Rodriguez in South Tier. Eventually, it would be Olympia that won the bidding war, with a 2-year deal worth $32 million. Despite an incident where he punched a Bradford reporter, he was generally well-behaved. He hit .328 with 40 HR’s and 113 RBI’s.
Motti Levin- P- The young starter signed with Southport for five-years worth $30 million, where he served as their #4 starter, going 15-7 with a 3.13 ERA, and enjoying the tutelage of well known ace Stacey Keisler, who is the ace of the Southport staff. (Also home to 2B Carrie Nicolette).
Cassadaigua:
Christina Barrett- OF- The speedster found her way, interestingly, to South Charlotte, with a 3-year deal worth $44 million. There, she would play in the bitter rival of the team where our well-known speedster, Brittany Wright plays (North Charlotte). She delivered, with a .321 BA, 4 HR’s and 42 RBI’s, but likely most important, 93 SB’s.
Megan Pattison- OF- Signed with Pocono City (5-years at $50 million). She had a very streaky year, but in the long run, her .273 BA with 38 HR’s helped the Capitals have a strong season.
Courtney Cutler- OF- Cutler signed with the Springfield Throughbreds, where she would have played in the same outfield with Rachel Crockett, however a season-ending injury in late April made it a frustrating year, though she returned for the latter stages of their playoff and eventual championship run. Though she did sign a four-year deal worth $48 million.
Michelle Driver- SS- Signed with Putnam Lake for 3 years at $24 million, and put together a solid year, hitting .315 with 1 HR and 65 RBI’s.
Meghan Corrigan- P- Meghan signed with Centralia, joining John Fusco and Eddie Forte and had an outstanding season, going 15-9 with a 2.04 ERA and 230 K’s. The contract was a five-year deal worth $68 million.
Rachel Andrews- P- Andrews signed with Dover City for four years worth $40 million, and had a respectable season, going 14-9 with a 2.82 ERA and 165 K’s.
Adrienne Benton- RP- Adrienne found herself a nice home in the Southport bullpen, where she was used in a set-up role to Secristan’s Michael McKeon. She was 5-1 with a 2.22 ERA. Benton had signed a three-year deal worth $14 million.
Taeshan:
Jake Courtier- 2B- Became very good value for Olympia, after signing there for 4-years at a modest $8 million. He was going to be a backup, but after their starter got hurt and missed much of the season, Courtier ended up starting 118 games, and hit .274 and stole 61 bases.
Jordan Longears- P- Signed with Brighton and ended up as advertised, a gritty workhose, throwing 220 innings for a mediocre Bulls team. The record of 9-11 is misleading and his 3.24 ERA and 183 K’s tell more of the story. He signed a two-year deal worth $17 million.
Masi Legkano- 3B- Signed with Tundra Falls for 6-years and $32 million, and had a solid season, hitting .285 and 33HR’s, driving in 104.
Kolby McWhite- RP- Originally signed by Loudon (4 years/$26 million) to be a starter, his lack of endurance found him to the bullpen. There he may have found his true calling, as in his relief appearances, he went 4-0 with a 1.55 ERA in 110 innings. May have drawn consideration for a reliever of the year nomination, but people also factored in his 1-4 record as a starter.
Terrance Fisher- RP- Didn’t get a huge contract, 3 years/$12 million, but gave Seminole Bay 108 innings out of the bullpen, and recorded a 3.40 ERA.
Tyrell Lawrence- RP- Ended up joining Fisher with Seminole Bay with another “value” contract at 3 years/$10.6 million, and gave then 82 innings, and a 3.25ERA.
Yuchello Bongsin- RP- Signed with Stroudsbourg at 4 years/$16 million, and was lit up, with an ERA that hovered around 6 before being demoted to AAA.
Mike Qwarant- OF- Signed with Hastings at 5 years/$45 million, but with the Crusaders playing miserably, he found himself traded to North Charlotte, a much stronger team. His overall season numbers were strong, hitting. 318 and 32 HR’s with 103 RBI’s. He stole 82 bases, many of those surely as the “second runner on a double steal” as he hit second behind our phenom Brittany Wright (who led the league with 142 SB’s).
Regan Whilliams- OF- Signed a modest contract, three-years worth $10 million with Pittstown, and preceded to make it worth every penny, hitting a surprising .319 with 12 HR’s and 74 RBI’s.
Qazox:
Jason D’anonti- OF- Found himself the target of several teams looking for a value signing, that his contract may have ended up a bit inflated at 3-years $22 million with Bradford. He had a tough time adjusting, but a strong second half made his numbers decent at .282 with 10 HR’s and 50 RBI’s. Bradford expects a big second season from him.
Charles Fanning- RP- Signed with Dover City for 5-years at $27 million, and was outstanding, going 6-1 in 88 innings pitched with a 2.00 ERA.
Jon Haes- OF- His MCL tear in Qazox affected the offers he got, but he found a nice home in Daytopia at 4-years and $28 million. He missed 68 games with injury here as well (hamstring tear, then an elbow injury), but turned in decent numbers, .290 BA and 12 HR’s.
Frank Davidson- P- Signed with Springfield for 4 years, worth $50 million, and rewarded the Thoroughbreds with a 15-5 season as the teams #2 starter, and an ERA of 2.66. He seemed to enjoy the Newmanistanian tendency of giving starters more innings then traditionally other nations may do.
