As the time of year when the contest will go on draws closer, it is now time for these countries to select what song they will be entering into the contest. All that needs to be posted here is your song's title and artist, although one can also tell how the song was selected, whether it was a televised contest, a jury vote, an internal selection, or some other strange process. Our Winning song:

Sunnydale Rock by Fredrick Albertson and the Sexy Shoremen.

The song was chosen by a live TV audience just last night over The Doomboys single Satan is My Best Friend (and so can you!). ((Think Jimmy Buffet mixed with The Rolling Stones for this one))

Host Bid.

Location National Opera House, Salo (capacity 300,000)
Esperantujo 2
08-01-2009, 03:04
Esperantujo 2 has voted for Cxu vi volas feki? (Do you want a shit?). The Ministry of Culture apologises for this choice, but it won the popular vote. The song will be performed by La Kruroj, Esperanujo 2's leading gay boy band.
Iglesian Archipelago
08-01-2009, 18:34
In the Iglesian Archipelago, on IGTV Song Contest II, the winner was "Palácio dos Encantos" (Enchanting Palace), by Carlos Pompeia, with 307 points.
Iglesian Archipelago
08-01-2009, 18:35
The Iglesian Archipelago wants to attract more millions of people. For the reason, the Iglesian Archipelago made a bid to host (but then it lost against Cafundó do Juta, Cafundéu) in WSC7. The building for this new contest is the well-known Culturforum Pyramid and since the Culturforum was held during the WSC7, we selected a smaller and calmer building, the S. Martinho Cultural Centre. But now, we are ready to host the WSC8 on this huge colossus. A colossal auditorium with capacity for 25.000 people. It's close to a railway station with the same name of the pyramid. It's served by suburban trains from the Los Vientos North and East Airports to the city centre, it's close to the metro station with the same name, and then by buses and trams. I hope to see you all in this beautiful city of Los Vientos!

Los Vientos North International Airport - Culturforum and vice-versa --> 10 minutes by suburban train, 25 minutes by underground.

Los Vientos East International Airport - Culturforum and vice-versa --> 18 minutes by subruban train, 37 minutes by underground.

Los Vientos Central Station - Culturforum and vice-versa --> 5 minutes by suburban train, 7 minutes by underground.

Los Vientos Campo Central Station - Culturforum and vice-versa --> 3 minutes by suburban train, 5 minutes by underground.

Future-World
08-01-2009, 22:59
After a long and very popular competition that broke several viewing records, Future-Worlds candidate has finally been chosen. Winner of the popular vote was the very popular rock band The Spoons with the song The Good ol' days (NOT)

We placed a host bid and it doesn't seem you recogonize it.

Okay. I din't notice it because it was a 1-liner, and didn't have it's own post. I'm not sure if I should really vote for it.

I updated the OP with it though.
Wavispa
10-01-2009, 02:13
Wavispa Song Festival 3!!

So, we tried the internet submission form last year, and, if you remember, most of the entries sucked. So, we used something more complicated this year. We don't have 552 entries, but the entries should be better. We didn't have to narrow the list down.

1) Falling, by Wavecrash
2) Happy Rainbows, by Garage Camp

Okay why is there only two songs?

Well, there was 552 last year. And then only one the year before. And the, I'm not even sure if we had a national final!

Well, that's not really an explaination, but I suppose the contest always has, and allways will be messed up.
----
(and the 15 minute voting period is filled with Men In Tights's new song which they didn't know how to enter into the contest Chocolate Cookies)
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la la, la (ad infinitum)
----
And the winner, with over 99% of the vote, is... Falling, by Wavecrash!!!

Now to Update our host bid...

If chosen host we will hold the contest in the Beautiful National Opera House, or if there is enough interest (and the weather's cooperation) Outdoors at the Golden Greens. For all artists free travel and lodging will be provided, with the artists and their loved ones leaving their home airport and flying luxuriously on a top class Charadon C-1 Buisness Jet. Upon arrival the artists will get to stay in the beautiful Doa Suites. For those who want to see the contest in person X-Air will increase flights to competing nations for the duration, and with that i hope that WorldVision 8 Lurikastan will become a reality.
Qazox
10-01-2009, 05:02
After a somewhat decent debut at WV7, Qazox will be sendign another entry into WV8.

Last year's Qazoxian winner, Qazian Anthem 1945, by Henritta Guyson is in eligible, but Ms. Guyson will be one of the 3 judges determining Qazox' next entry. The other 2 judges are: Simon Abdul, co-founder of Noise Records, and CEO of QazRecords, the #1 rap record producer in Qazox, Flava Sava. The three judges will make a unianimous decision between these 4 finalists:

<Shows Finalist #1's performance>

That was Mack and the Johnsons singing 'Brawling'. A NuMetal thrash anthem.

Up next, Kayla Whyte singing 'Baby is Back', a techno-pop love song.

<Shows Kayla's performance>

The 3rd finalist's entry:

<Shows Finalist #3's performance>

That was MC IceKold singing 'Freedom', a hardcore gangsta-rap.

The 4th finalist, is the suprise of the Qazox WorldVision contest, Julie Hammon singing 'All I Want'. Compared to the previous three, Julie's entry is a religous ballad.

<Shows Juilie's performance>

Ok the fans at home have voted and let's see who Qazox thinks will win:

Mack and the Johnsons 30.8%
MC IceKold 26.9%
Kayla Whyte 22.7%
Juile Hammon 19.6%

And now the moment all of Qazox has been waiting for, the judges decision. (A stage hand runs onto the stage with an envelope containing the winning entry)

The winner of Qazox World Vision 2 is.........Mack and the Johnsons 'Brawling'!

Havl

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v36/FuzzyOne/HavlVision2GIF.gif

Last year, WorldVision Song Contest 7 held the interest of many viewers in Havl. The final telecast held a 60% share of all household television. Prompted by this nationwide interest, the Office of International Affairs announced that Havl would compete in WorldVision 8.

The OIA declared a nation-wide call for original musical acts. Well-known national recording artist were joined by fledgling newcomers for a chance to represent Havl. To be eligible, the performers had to submit a petition form with 200 signatures. All eligible acts would be placed on the December 2008 presidential election ballot.

In the end, over 200 acts were placed on the ballot. None of these acts held a majority of the vote, so the ten acts with the most votes were to perform on television before a final runoff vote.

Havl National Election for WorldVision 8 – Top Ten
[01] Morgan Calhoun – 76,098 votes
[02] Kody Creeksum – 80,059 votes
[03] The Dissidents – 81,880 votes
[04] Noris Envoy and the Blues – 80,601 votes
[05] Lana Exner – 84,553 votes
[06] Lefty Lucy – 79,920 votes
[07] Mickey Mantle Late Nite Movie - 83,704 votes
[08] The Ovalteens – 79,890 votes
[09] The Union Forever – 74,778 votes
[10] Us vs. Them – 72,909 votes

The ten acts were announced that evening after the election. Each act had seven days to select a song and prepare for a televised performance. The acts would perform in reversed order based on the election results.

Us vs. Them – “Turnpike (#6)”
The Union Forever – “Dead Veins”
Morgan Calhoun – “Take It (Or Leave It)”
The Ovalteens – “Hey, No”

Noris Envoy and the Blues – “Black & Blue”
The Dissidents – “Proposition 6 is Shit”
Mickey Mantle Late Nite Movie – “I Don’t Think We Should Go Out Anymore”
Lana Exner – “No Promises”

Voters were given a week to mull over the songs (which, thank to heavy rotation on Havl’s radio station, were hard to ignore). Following this period, the runoff election was held.

OOC - I won't be able to post a song until the 16th or thereabouts as I'm currently travelling. I do very much intend to participate.

Apologies for any inconvenience.
Bears Armed
13-01-2009, 20:22
Bears Armed's entry will be a song by the title of 'Fat-bottomed SheBears', by the Rock group 'LandMother'...

This choice was selected by the same system as the country's entry for 'WorldVision 7' had been, and I'll try to get the actual National Contest programme written-up in the next week or so. (You can assume that, although the result has officially been announced, your own TV networks simply haven't acquired tapes of that show yet...)

Yes, it's another parody: I hope that its source is obvious to you? ;)
Cafundeu
14-01-2009, 04:05
This time there wasn't a national competition to decide Cafundéu's representative. A board of judges just chose one song between some candidates.

So, the chosen one is "My CEO", by Erik Stock Market.
Terreiro de Ogum

Kemball Island

Kemball Island National Election for WorldVision 8 – Top Five Songs

[01]Harry Pipe, former member of 90's boyband The Crazy Dancers topped the inital contest wih his song Touch the Sky winning 24% of the popular vote
[02] New kid on the block Nick Smith cmae in second with his touching acoustic ballad You Are Beautiful winning 20% of the votes
[03] Glam rock band The Sweetest Things may have broken up initially way back in 1982, but the new ersion relaunched in 1999 with original bassist & lyricist Paul Mitchell and original drummer Rocky Lightningbolt proed as popular as ever, with potential glam rock classic Superstars coming in 3rd with a very respectable 19%
[04] Soul swingers DJ Patrick and Friends have only been around since 2004, but last year broke into mainstream music, and were delighted to break into the Kemball Island election final with the ultra-relaxed Sway with Me, winning 15% of the votes to go through in style.
[05] The last act to book their place in the final were the ultra cool synth-pop band The Jedi, who took 13% of the public vote with their haunting, psychedelic love song You

The five acts were announced that evening after the election. Each act had 10 days to prepare for a televised performance. The acts would perform in reversed order based on the election results.

WorldVision 8 Performances
The Jedi-You
DJ Patrick and Friends-Sway with Me
The Sweetest Things-Superstars
Nick Smith-You Are Beautiful
Harry Pipe-Touch the Sky

Voters were allowed to vote immediatley after the live performances, with the 3 acts with the lowest number of votes eliminated. The remaining 2 would perform live again, the votes from the previous performances would be added to votes from the 2nd stage and the winner would be the one with the omst combined votes.

As voting commenced, poor live performances and criticisms from judges meant Harry Pipe and The Sweetest Things were the first two acts to go, while Nick Smith piped DJ Patrick & Friends by a mere 0.6% of the votes to join The Jedi in the Grand Final.

Both performers pulled out all the stops in two absolutley fantastic live performances, the public voted again. In the second stage Nick Smith sneaked victory by just 1.1% of the public vote, but The Jedi's lead from the 1st stage of voting was too high to cut down, and the synth-pop band became Kemball Island's WorldVision8 entry.

The Winning Song: You by The Jedi

Jan 15 2009

Sales figures were used to determine which act would represent New Haustreland. With close to 1.5 million copies sold internationally, the choice was clear. Permanent Records is proud to announce our artist, Svartvladet, as the official act, performing their original single, "Dogmantra," at WorldVision 8.

Congratulations "Dogmantra" by Svartvladet. Advance copies of the WorldVision 8 performance of "Dogmantra" by Svartvladet will be available on Permanent Records.
Nethertopia
15-01-2009, 19:46
Nethertopia had three candidates in the national finals:

Rosanne, by Pagans With Hats and The Royal DePardenti Orchestra. A very touching rockballad about a man in love with a girl, who has chosen for another lover.

The Spirits, by Firefly. A standard Worldvision song, with mediocre lyrics, mediocre singing and a mediocre sound, about the spirits that bugged Andrés García during his night on top of Mount Rennidan in between the two World Table Tennis Championship finals.

La la la, by Mr. U. An a capello song, only consisting of the world 'la'.

The eventual winner was, thank God, Rosanne. They will perform at the yet unchosen place of wherever the final will be.
Cachette de Lions
15-01-2009, 23:32
Cachette de Lions once again used a different method for its national selection - sending the winner of the ever-popular CDLVision contest (based on WSC) to wherever this will take place. As a result, all Cachettian Air flights have been warned that they may have to change route at any given time.

(OOC: To save you all having to see every single point in this, I'll just post the final scores for the entries plus their city of entry.)

#20 The Friars - Thank You/Merci Beaucoup - 19 ( Augascrit )
#19 Dan Antonescu - Nothing Else to Say - 20 ( Ealascha )
#18 Maja - Not Right - 23 ( Cinq-Port )
#16 Myron Grady - I Sold My Soul - 29 ( Newchester )
#16 Circus Freaks - Elegy for Sanity - 29 ( La Rancour )
#13 Erik Carlsson - Hands - 34 ( Les Deux Rouges )
#13 Black and Blue - Wrong Again - 35 ( Nusshalten )
#13 Erudite Men - Negative Love - 35 ( Maetapolis )
#12 Lametta - Building a Bridge - 35 ( Majaentour )
#11 Thought Police - Love Thine Enemy - 38 ( Youngstown )
#10 Nakesha Skupski - Lie To Me - 39 ( Albany )
#9 Jack Martin - Ice - 40 ( Eindesch )
#8 Thomas Bara - Elle est la femme... - 43 ( Port Laistradec )
#7 Jenni Daulus - Memories - 60 ( Hope City )
#6 Rina - Sauve-moi - 155 ( Letonarc )
#5 Light and Shadow - Blood in the Dance Hall - 169 ( Jeansité-sur-Blanche )
#4 Nela Chour - Mon cœur n'a pas d'amour - 212 ( Mondascria )
#2 Astrid Jung - Everybody Say Yeah! - 240 ( Whiscombe )
#2 Debora Marchand - Libère mon corps - 240 ( Tours )
#1 Betty - No More Time To Cry - 245 ( Holstein )

So the Cachettian representative in WorldVision Song Contest 8 is Betty with No More Time To Cry.

"Fourth place is Anastacia Kinsley, with "Finding My Way"."

"Yeah, forgettable piece of...um, whatever that was."

"Music."

"If you're gonna be like that about it, sure. Didn't we learn that the female soloist thing really was overrated?"

"All things considered, she did fine. Think of it this way, you should be pleased that she's not going to win."

If you'd been watching on TV rather than just reading the transcript, you would have seen an awkward glare pass between the two anchors. Or maybe it would have just gone over your head. That's okay. Don't worry about it. We'll just move on to third place.

"Right, let's just move on to third place."

"All right then...Ooh! Good song! "Use Red Yellow Green Black", by everyone's favorite band, Wagon Hoppers."

"You understand that WorldVision is a live contest, yes?"

"Of course."

"So they can't play the song backwards."

"Right."

"Or synchronized with a b-movie from Taeshan."

"Yeah."

"And yet you still think it has redeeming value?"

"Um..."

"Second place, uh, entry, now. Just remind yourself it didn't come in first, okay?"

"Do I even want to know?"

"No."

"What is it?"

""Dang, It Feels Good To Be A Zwangster," as performed by us and the guys at the weird desk."

"...One, there's no such thing, two, it wouldn't have gotten out of this office if there was, three, it wouldn't be submitted to WorldVision! We're not Swentlantish!"

"Which is why we're all relieved that it came in second."

"Finally, something we can agree on. Wingspan won, I take it?"

"No, actually."

"Really?"

"Remember Kenji Sasaki?"

"The guy who used to be in Wingspan?"

"Yeah. He joined Stuart Sanden's Moderately Sized Ensemble."

"Is that a jazz band?"

"Now with pentatonic trumpet solos."

"Where is this going?"

"Tenderville or wherever."

Representing Zwangzug in WorldVision 8: Stuart Sanden's Moderately Sized Ensemble performing Never Had Nothin'.

After a long and protracted voting process that's far too Byzantine to relate here, and which caused the Holy Empire WorldVision Committee to miss the deadline for detailed host bids, the Holy Empire hereby announces that their entry is.......
