The Altan Steppes
07-01-2009, 22:34
For most of its history, the Altan Steppes did not have a President or other elected leader. Executive power was exercised by direct rule by monarchs of House Aranathas.

Kings of Altanar (predecessor state to the Altan Steppes):

King Olen (1871-1900)
King Catar (1900-1933)
King Cebratha (1933-1974)
King Cianar (1974-2000)
King Aelkyn (2000-present; last King of Altanar before devolution; still serves as leader of a smaller Altanar that is part of the Federation)

Beginning in 2000, King Aelkyn began sharing power with an elected Prime Minister.

Prime Ministers of Altanar

2000-2005: Jaris Krytellin
2005-2006: (position eliminated by King)
2006: Norgan Sheloran (assassinated at inauguration); Jaris Krytellin (emergency caretaker PM); Jinella Agaranth (special election)

In 2007, the Kingdom of Altanar became the Trilateral Federation of the Altan Steppes under a complex devolution plan. Under this plan, an elected President would replace the old position of Prime Minister.

Presidents of the Trilateral Federation

2007-2010: President Alana Kasimira (up for re-election January 2010).
