W40K frontier campaign interest and OOC thread [OOC/some IC]

Sixth Expedition

The Xerxes Planet Cluster, northeast end of Subsector Barrenus, Segmentum Ultima, in the year 990 of the 40th millenium under his Benevolent Light

Stardate D139.Y990.M40. Thought of the day: A ship can no more weather the fury of the warp more than a heretic can bear the gaze of the inquisition.

As the geller fields of the massive space cruisers disengaged, and the ships plunged into real space, a tangible sense of relief seized millions of human minds. From the joy in the thoughts of the leader of the expedition, newly-made Governor-Militant of the Xerxes cluster Lucian Millicent, to the ease felt by lowly steelwright Creek slaving on the floor of one of the many troop transports from the 3rd Kelvin Regiment, getting here was over, and all was well. The years spent getting here now seemed well worth it, and the 6th expedition could undertake the holy duty of settling Xerxes for the immortal God-Emperor of man.

The suspicion and xenophobia inherent to man soon took over, and pict-cruisers attached to the 903th Barrenus Imperial Fleet took to surveying the surfaces of the many different planets. Time would tell if they struck other life. Facing Xenos without exterminating them was nigh-impossible, surely, but other human groups had migrated in the direction earlier. Possibly these splinter populations had lived and might be brought back into the imperial fold..

Hello all, and thanks for reading

As the title suggests, I'd like to try something a little different for a closed campaign. The premise for the setting is that of the Warhammer 40.000 Imperium of Man (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Imperium), in which a large Imperial expeditionary force colonizes a star system in the Barrenus sub-sector, in the Segmentum Ultima, setting up a small feudal arm of the imperium in hitherto uninhabited space. I will act as the 'game master' in the start of the campaign, writing up some fiction and the planets in the system so we have a fluff and logistical framework for our campaign. I will play the Imperial force (that is, a selection of missionaries, colonists and the Imperial Guard forces sent to protect them). The other player(s) will assume the role of native or invading xenos (alien) populations, or even other human factions (religious separatist settlers, genestealer-infected hives, cultist refugee populations or perhaps even a small group of Adeptus Astartes crusaders!). Naturally, the imperium and the xenos races being what they are, this will surely turn into warfare at some point, but I hope we can play a game of both diplomacy, civic development and intrigue, insofar this can be done in a 40K setting :) This is why I hope someone would like to play other humans, either as powers in their own right or as factions within the expedition such as the ecclesiarchy, rogue trader federations or the like.

This thread is for seeing if there's interest in such an RP, and for me to answer questions about how it will be run and various issues that may arise. It is my hope that it can also function as an OOC thread when we get things underway. As for players, I seek people with at least basic knowledge of the 40 universe (it is not enough that you play the wargame, some interest in the background is required to have an entertaining game, I should think), and who have roleplayed before. I want to have a campaign with the epic grandstanding, bloodshed and pointless cosmic horror we know and love from the 40K universe! For instance, it makes sense to commit large forces to suicidal conflict here, as this is how the zealous empire of man and it's many belligerant xenos enemies react to threats, however slight. I want rivers of blood, unimaginable terrors of the warp and heroic last stands by the bucketload :)

So, here goes. Please post, I'll answer as soon as time permits.

Bump. No one interested? I'd think there was a crossover fanbase between 40K and Nationstates.
