1st Womans World Cup of Hockey (Interest thread)

I've noticed a lack of Woman's international competitions in general, though I do believe there was a Woman's World Cup a while ago, but that's besides the point. So this is a tentative interest thread, to gauge how many players would be interesting in sending players to a Woman's World Cup of (Ice) Hockey.

Just put women on your World Cup of Hockey team.

Trust me on this "Women's World Cup of whatever" is not going to work.
Especially since I ran the WWC from WWC3 to the end.

To be frank, given there are no restrictions against naming women to any other World Cup/World Classic/World Championship team, there really isn't much need for a Women's World Cup of anything.

You're absolutely right, there's no need.

But it also allows for an opportunity for more people from the country to get international experience. Using football/soccer as an example, as a way that women who are "close" to making the real national team can get some experience. And it can make for some interesting role play. A small tournament once in a while with this theme couldn't hurt. Just my opinion.

Agreed. It doesn't have to match the grandeur of the real thing, but it can still be fun and interesting.

I don't see any harm in doing a Women's World Cup.

Sarzonia does not prohibit women from playing on its men's teams. Anyone who can remember some of the Stars teams from the past can tell you that. That doesn't mean I'd never field a women's team. I did in the early days of the Women's World Cup.

although our nation does not compete internationally in ice hockey, we as a nation endorse gender equality, and this tournament is a step towards it. when women and men become equal in the world, not just the world of sport, we as a a nation will know our work was not wasted. +1 intrest from Kjomasasopia

In creating a Women's Championship, you are further pushing sexism when it needs not to be pushed farther. There is no limitations on involving women in your teams already, and competitions like this are completely unneeded and unwanted for the most part.

Completley unneeded is a bit of a stretch, don't you think?

not so. females, on average, are not as strong or skilled in hockey as opposed to males. so in creating a separate tournament for women, you create an even playing field, or in this case an even playing rink, instead of FORCING them to play against men in a sport as VIOLENT as hockey is. Women should be allowed to be picked in Mens sides, no one is denying them their right to do so, but in the interest of fairness, a seperate tournament only for women should be, and WILL be created.

A Women's World Cup of Hockey would be great, I think - even if it didn't work.

Sarzonia - your motto scares me. You know why?

HOW DID YOU KNOW???

No... but nice.

Really... it's what John Wilkes Booth shouted after he assassinated Abraham Lincoln, supposedly.

Oh - and the state motto of Virginia. It actually means "Thus ever (or always) to tyrants".

I know the meaning behind the phrase. I put it into my signature file during the whole Hogsweat deletion controversy (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/hogsweat_deletion_controversy.html). I haven't seen fit to remove it from my sig since then.
